Man, that looks awesome. What are you gonna put on top of the engine cover, just curious. I imagine foam and upjolstery. Did you build the tower or buy it, looks good, I like the bimini top also.

put a positive latch on that air foil(hatch), cause sure as sht if you dont someone will forget to latch it and that would make a good set of air brakes lol

i see the latch now, my first thought was the latch flying open at 40 mph, you could always tie in a push button into the neutral safety circuit in case the hatch is left up, it wont crank.
cause i know somewhere down the line you will be tinkering with the engine and rest it down forgetting to latch it....murphy's law |

Looking really good. I'm curious as to what you're going to do on top of the hatch too. Upholstery or gel coat?

The sun deck is going to be upholstery and the scoop will be gellcoat.
Eric, the struts only push to about three inches then it latches itself. In fact safety was my first priority. Ryan,I am shooting to have the boat functional by the end of the month so I am pretty sure I can make it. |

That is looking really nice! Can you tell us how you laid up the sun deck? Is that a thin layer of ply and then covered in glass? What kind of glass did you use (thickness?)?
Where did you get the bimini? Keep it up and keep the pics coming! |

To be honest with you I don't know how much resin is on the lid but I do know there is only one layer of woven row.I basically used a piece of masonite 1/4 inch to shape over the wood and covered top/bottom with resin. The frame is douglas fir marine plywood two inches thick.
The bimini came from big air pylons,a local shop to me. Thanks for the compliments guys. |

Whats the best place to buy a rubrail and what type could I use thats a little smoother than the factory?
Second, how in the hell do you get the shifter apart to remove the trim panel? Thanks,Ryan |

You don't have to touch the shifter to get the trim panel off. It's held on with double ended x-mas tree clips. Pry it off like a door panel, most of them will snap flush with the fiberglass.

OEM Rub Rail is availale from White Lake, per a previous post. Aftermarket ones are smaller, from what I have read.

most likely you will need to replace the trim panel fasteners one you remove them as they become bristle and break...BoatDR carries them at $1 or so each...

In my 83SN you actually do need to remove 2 nuts on the back of the shifter to be able to pull the housing off the front. This way the rub rail will come off, only when you pull the speed clips off the back of course. The bolts actually screw into the shifter and the nuetral switch. So think right in the center of the back of the housing.

I don't think I can spare the time or money to build a trailer so I am just going to move the axle back on the factory one.A little blue paint and carpet should make it respectable enough.
