Talk about launch etiquitte.. I have seen people buy these inboard boats, and literally take 5 minutes back the boat right in front of the water on the ramp and stop. Then these guys get out and put the plug in, and then load the boat up. What tha fik? Some people amaze, then later I spill my drink cause of them and they cut me off.
The lake I go too is full of coves and not widley open so u can be coming around the corner and one of them rookies on a water craft or driving a boat and take the wrong path completely. So crusing at 25-30mph, u got to make a decision quickly cause of the rookies..

I would say though if you split up all classes of owners of boats, such as owners and drivers:
Inboard owners a class: The best
I/O a class: the worst
Bass boats a class: Intermediate or ***************ty
Powerboats a class: Awful, Hey look at me I got lots of money and cant drive
And then water craft a class: Hey Mom, look "NO HANDS"... They really have no etiqutte..

My opinion, but it seems like that downn here in Tx.. Some awful drivers and stupidity.

Unfortunately the really bad jet ski drivers tarnish the name of the few of the good ones that are respectful.

I used to be a really avid jet skier. But since I grew up water skiing, I stay far away from any boat towing anyone. We still have one 2 person ski.

I have had jet skiers literally 20 feet behind my skier. I have had to cuss out a few idiots like that over the years.

Hey Tom,
I would have to agree. There are some great drivers out there, and get brought into a class that they do not belong. I was saying the majority if them are awful. I had a older guy ride behind me, I wuz going about 23mph and thought in my rearview mirror that he wuz going to jump off into my back seat..
He eventually sped off but was riding to close. Thats whats makes me angry is half of them think they can ride 2 feet or so away from boats.

God pic Eric.. Thats how most of the idiots end up..

Great points about how you were raised. I guess that applies to most anything in life - if you grew up doing things right, it will translate.

I love riding jet skis, but I know to stay away from boats and to not tear up good water when people are skiing. I love to pull my kids tubing, but I am going to steer clear of people trying to fish, because I have had boats ski with in casting distance while I was trying to fish. I am also not going to swear in front of my mother or drink beer in front of my grandma. Some things you just don't do.

Best way to avoid idiots, and worry about it and always have to look for the idiots. Go to the lake during the week, no weekends.. My lake day normally is Tuesday or Wednesday.. Not a soul there and just me and the retired fishing guys..

That is too funny skicat, because as soon as I saw those lyrics I thought back to the 80s during which I lived in Houston. I then looked over and saw you are in Katy. Everything all comes together.

I'm not remembering those lyrics. What song is that?
Skicat, I looked up your profile, to make sure you were not quoting lyrics from "olden days". We are almost exactly 1 year apart, you being younger so I should recognize the lyrics. Unless it's country. LOL

Well you could go old country, that is Jim Ed Brown, or newer country by Alan Jackson..

I was raised on country music, but enjoy rock and roll too.. I been known to turn on the Guns-N-Roses, Pantera, AC-DC, or many others. Not no head banger...lol Or the ol Ozzy Ozborne, or the even Eagles..

Its been a while. Yankee by birth, lived in Houston just out of school from 79 till 87. Worked in the oil patch, Texaco and then some others. Then moved back to NY and now MA. Skied the San Jacinto out by Liberty and the San Bernard down by Brazoria. Havnt been back since about 98. I still have ski friends down there I'd like to visit some time. And then head out to see you and visit the BFC compound. Where do you ski?

Texaco, miss them days.. Well, I was born and raised in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, moved down here in 05. Bought that boat there, my first, and had to ask around where good skiing is. Lake Conroe, or Lake Livinston is too crowded, but someone turned me on to Lake Somerville, it is NW of Katy. 50 miles or so. No big boats, just fishing, and ski boats, which I like.. Much smoother water always.. That San Jacinto is salt water, is it?
I wish I lived up north closed to these guys, but I have much respect yall can take those winters.. I would go crazy. Where do you ski? I been through there abouts where you are at, the northeast is beautiful. Ma, and CT are wonderful places..
I if I ever did move out of tx, I would choose to go either Arankasas, or the Carolina's.. Yea, please come visit.. Anytime..

Drive the boat like you are invisable. Never assume the other guy will hold his course. Taking courses is good and will make you book smart but there is nothing like seat time to give you expierience. Some lakes have a direction to pull so every one goes the same way. If this is the case do as expected. Be courtious and watch your wake and you'll be fine.

Yep, From my experience on a motorcycle on the street, I think of the worst thing that every other person on the road/ water could do. This way, I am well prepared, and usually delighted when they don't do the absolute worst thing they can.

I did a bad thing.

I had my little girls in the water learning to ski. Small calm quite cove - very peaceful. A a$$holio decides to pull is tuber in the same cove. We all know this guy. He’s on every lake. Had 6 guys all drinking in the boat 'whipping' each other on the tube. Despite the fact he kept coming way to close to us, one of his monster waves rolled over our OB and caused the boom to pop my little girl on the head. She cried and I got really P.O.'d

We called it a day. I have nothing against tubers. We do it and its fun. I just have a problem with folks who don't think of others and drive erratically.

Later that day I pulled up to the local market in the boat to grab a drink. What should pull up and dock besides me? The very some boat of drunks on a beer run.

While they were up at the store I walked over and hid their kill switch under the driver's seat bottom. They sat there for several hours trying to figure it out. Absolutely priceless.

Chris,
Sorry to hear that.. Hope the little one is ok. I know what you mean, there are people out there that do not pay attention. I enjoy a few cold ones on the lake, but intentions are not to get slammed down drunk and act a fool like others.

Yeah, skiers and boarders too. Our lake is a perfect circle about 2 1/2 miles across. When I tube, we go straight for the middle of the lake. Everyone else follows the shoreline around. I grew up skiing a course so I try to keep it smooth for the skiers.

Kids are 10, 8, 5...last year they were all on the Hydroslide and the older two were on skis. Looking for a wakeboard for the kids (and one for me but the back ain't what it used to be, so maybe I should think better of it). Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Just a rule in my boat and I follow this rule while I'm in someone else's. I NEVER mix beer and boarding/skiing. It's NOT good practice to do so IMHO and can only lead to poor judgment.

However.......when the runs are done or I'm just out for a cruise then there's nothing better than a cold beer in my hand. Ask any one of the many ccfans I've been out with. I take boating serious but my skiing VERY serious.

My favorite drink shortly before a boarding run is mtn dew and a couple of excedrins. Nothing like some caffeine to help.

I would simply drink an energy drink, but they don't have any pain reliever in them;)

Don't get me wrong. A few cocktails on the water is quite enjoyable. However, there is a line that as a person gets old it becomes more and more clear. I guess when you have a family 'the line' starts to appear. Stuff happens and when it does, it happens quickly. Sooner or later we all may become that "other guy" who it always happens to.

Believe me I wasn't perfect running the boats on the lake growing up but I think I did a good job respecting others rights to enjoy the day or night on the water.

The little one was just fine. I think it scare her more than anything. Still they made a 6 yr old girl cry so it was fitting to see them stuck at the dock for a few hours. Call it a CCFan timeout!

When you are active and serious about certain things are different. I do water sports and the skiing as for excercise and fun. I always try to be the best I can at anything I do. When we ski, we enjoy the afternoon and few cold ones and the god bless blue sky. I think some people do not know how to stop, I like to enjoy a 6 pack, but drink mine with wait times with bottle water. Some idiots will slam a 18 pack, and pull skiers or tubers. They are the dumb asses...
People have there serious sports, mine is golf. Do not get me on the golf course drinking.. That is one place I do not drink and will never. I enjoy golf, and can not stand people who go out and drink when playing golf.(Four you bastard) I like my 2 handicap and like to keep it that way..

I'll take 2 a side. Let's tee it up!

I used to do a lot of building projects around the house. A wise man once told me that you can't be a carpenter and a golfer - not enough time. So I quit all the projects...then I bought a boat. Golf clubs are gathering dust.
