Used to own the Burgundy One, the guy I sold it to is on the Fox River not far from me. He and the Paragon were at the first GL reunion, not sure if they will be making it this year.

I didn't know you used to own that boat Chris. That has always been one of my favorite boats I've seen on this site. Love the wood plank floor.

I saw the Paragon in Seattle one year and drooled all over it. One got sold up here in B.C. - I was at the dealer's and it was back there all beat up. They had a boom on it that was rubbing on the dock, boat was hitting the dock. This was in the ocean. I felt sorry for all that teak at the time. All oxidized the green hull was looking kind of funky.

When I was at CC full time I did all the water-testing on the Paragons before they went to the new owners. Even skied with one one day, was worried that the rope would scuff the finnish. Not sure how many were converted, maybe a handfull. Cool toy though!!!

Chris, I have to ask; why did you sell? Were you made an offer you couldn't refuse? I would have to remain seated while in that boat because of the half-chub, I would sell my wife before I'd part with that boat.
Wait, somedays I would trade my wife for a bag of Skittles. |

Tull/Steve,
Getting Wood about the Wood, LOL. When it became my exclusive towboat I realized, although beautiful, it was not a practical boat for what I owned a boat for, skiing/footin, etc., and I certainly was not going to start modifying it with a bimini or extended pylon, comp mirror, etc. would have been difficult to add a 2nd boat at that time, so off it went. We did ski behind that boat from new but it was only about 15hrs per season. My daughter Maddie, 6yo at the time, was so Mad at me for selling it, actually her very first ski run was behind that boat. |

Chris, I understand. But ever since I got interested in CC's, I just think that is one of, if not the, coolest boat I've ever seen. I told my wife that if I ever see one come up for sale, I'm not even going to ask.
Anyone have a bag of Skittles? |

I hang out in Woodstock NY a bit through the summer. I ran into a guy at a flea market selling a few old canoes, kayaks etc. In his portfolio he had pic of a paragon and said he did the wood work. Anyone know if he was BS ing me ?

This one resides in Clear Lake Iowa now. My cousin knows who the owner is but I've never met him or seen the boat in person. I'd love to go up and see it sometime this summer. |

I let him know we were talking about it.....so be nice so we can add another CCF member here. Such a beautiful boat! |

You got it Storm. I give the guy props for finding the boat for sale.
There was one posted "For Sale" on this site in '09. I wish I would have seen it before it sold, because the seller was looking for a high end pontoon for his wife. My father-in-law was looking to sell (give away) his 60K pontoon. Might have worked out for all parties, mainly me. |

No numbers on my end. I haven't met the guy but I would assume they are going for high 20's? It all depends on the situation (what buyer wants pay and seller wants out of it) since there were only 13 made?

Steve,
Mine was Originally listed in 04' at 32k, was out there for quite a while with minimal activity, dropped the listings and it sold about 6 months later. Sold as New, the boat was around 50k. The Michigan Green Paragon was listed in March 09' on CL for 35k, no idea what/when it sold for. The owner, David, did contact me with questions about my sale. His boat was in the Sisters Lake area of Michigan and I believe it was the one with a GT-40 in it. In 2004 Saw a Green Paragon in Michigan at Guys Marine (former CC Dealer) which is very near Sisters Lake, it was the one with a GT-40 which had come from the Northwest US IIRC, probably the same boat. Remember seeing that one listed for sale out west prior to that for 38k IIRC. One thing that surprised me was the Green was more of a Christmas Green then a Hunter Green in person IMO. A little history on the Paragon I owned. Ken Maloon had the Burgundy (Wineberry?) Paragon built originally, it was the only Paragon done in that color and he also was the one who detailed out the motor with all the chrome, faux braided hoses, etc., and also had the lift rings and similar hardware done in gold (color). If you look at the pics Chris linked vs those I posted you will see what I am describing. Technically Ken was the original owner and put the first 10-20hrs on the boat. |

CQ, weren't these boats built by someone outside of the factory? I cannot find the post I was thinking of but I remember reading that the boats were sent out to another shop to have all the wood work done. I wish I could find that thread, seems it had most the history of those boats there.
I sure would love to have one someday but thats a long shot...maybe I'll have to make one someday! |

It may have even been 2003. I remember looking at it at the time as it was in our price range. At the time I had no idea what it was, & little appreciation of it's uniqueness / value. we were looking for a boat to use for wakeboarding, so it would have been full of sacs, and likely would have scored a nice hipole / bimni combo. maybe even a tower. lucky I know better now - sort of. |

It looks to me like the paragon came with a swim platform. The one in the brochure has a swim platform. |

I don't think the comment was implying there was an "unoriginal" platform, but rather that the guy hadnt kept it polished/oiled to the degree that such a fine boat warranted. People are observant like that around here. |
