After 3 summers of having my 17' Rinker on consignment at a marina up north, I'm happy to say it sold. It sure didn't go for the same asking price from 3 summers ago but I'm just happy to get rid of it and won't need to winterize it again! This summer I used a slightly different strategy when it was on display. Instead of putting the vinyl top up making it look like a "old" persons boat, I put the "fly high" up. I made the pole for my kids to learn to board and it worked very well. It made for a great starter boat and that's exactly what the new buyer bought it for.

Awesome Pete! I'd be very confident buying my first boat from you.

Congrats Pete!
I was afraid that if you didn't sell it this summer you might have to bring it to Green Lake !

I think that's the REAL reason he sold it. It WASN'T original.

Ryan,
Regrettably none! The proceeds will go to the new shop fund! The way things are going, the project may run "slightly" over budget and using more of my Home equity than I had anticipated. Little things keep popping up. The new septic field is on a raised section of land next to my driveway and with all the rain we've been getting it's washing out down the drive!! It's all sand up there so now I have to have top soil hauled in and the area planted. I've been looking at those straw and coconut shell erosion control mats. The application for gas and electric went in to Wisconsin Public service the other day. I'm sure that will be a exciting figure. They don't know if the existing gas line to the house can be tapped into and used to the new shop meter/service. There may not be enough BTU's available with the existing house generator/heat/oven and hot water on the line. They may have to go out to the main next to the road!!

Al,
No it's not. The "dork" pipes were out long before I made it!!! Aluminum pipe and structural/railing fittings from McMaster!!

Tim,
to you too!! Sold because it wasn't original? Thinking back to the time when I did put the pylon in there, originality never crossed my mind!!! The Rinker sure wasn't and isn't a classic so, I am flexible on my originality! We got the boat used (up north local) as a daily user/ski boat for the kids. At the time, I couldn't find a CC in decent user condition for the money at hand. The Tique replaced the Rinker when the kids got bigger and the 140 in the Rinker was struggling. I ended up paying dearly for the Tique. It had the stringers replaced which was what I was looking for since I didn't need a project boat at the time. However, it was a ebay boat and some "A" hole from Washington state (boat in the Indy area) ran up the damn bid by 2K!!! Turned out it was some kids "pipe dream" and he didn't even want the boat! I hate ebay!!
