well I tried the boom out and so did my son, Boy did I find out I am fat and out of shape had a good time my son did manage to get up 2 times I remember 13. so I had the driver pull me on the boom and around 25 mph I started to swing my hips and then insited on drinking the ohio river. Not as good as the beer, it tasted like fish
So I guess that is how it is done ride on your butt and slowly put feet in the water? I think I will try again this weekend if my arms dont hurt really bad any help out there? |

Quick easy vid you can watch of my friend Brandon learning to foot on the boom...
Boom Footin Get on your butt and put your feet right under you...don't stab them in, set them in nice and slowly stand up. If you fall, don't let go unless you're unable to hang on. Start over again! :) |

Unless you have a big planing azz one doesn't really ride on their butt, its more like your lower back and upper azz, especially when about to stand.
Upon placing, not stabbing one's feet to the water, the heels should feel like they are touching your azz, and feet are slowly placed atop the water flatly, not heels, and a slight curl to the toes. then push down, stay chair-like, shoulders back, a little downpressure and slight elbow bend on the handle keeps your cg lower then the typical arms-out-straight method. If you see legs reaching and flailing, and heels stabbing, you're doing it wrong. |

Just to add a bit more, I've found it helpful to do some dry practice with a rope attached to something. Posture is key, 90* angles with your ankles, knees, and hips. Knees together (obviously not touching, but slanted inward). slow steady pressure, and act like sitting in a chair. It may help sitting on a wakeboard or kneeboard off the boom as well. Here are some links that may help.
Boom in handle Deep start step off great clip 1 more inspiration |
