I discovered the vent tubing in the bow of my boat was shot. One somewhat functional, one crushed, one split in half. I did some dumpster diving and found some 1-1/2 ridgid corrogatged tubing that I put in its place. The diameter is smaller meaning less airflow but the ridgid walls should offer less resisance and should increased flow. I know I am way ahead of where I was, and this stuff will last forever compared the the stuff that was in there. Think this is enough flow?

If youre worried about the decreased diameter, dont be. Remember, the stuff below your floor is the same crappy stuff and is probably rotted, split and crushed worse than the sections you replaced... so youre definitely no worse off!
If you were replacing the whole thing, then sticking with at least 2.5" (3" is optimal) would be better, though. |

I replaced the one to the bilge blower in back with 3" aluminum drier duct. I have no idea what it looks like underneath but I suspect the front ones were was damaged by skis and vests, I hope they are intact under the floor.

...And maybe they are. Or, maybe they've disintegrated or been crushed by waterlogged foam like the ones Ive found. Theres one easy way to find out if youre curious. |

Ha, Im just giving you a hard time. Even if torn or rotten, the paths for air to get to the engine compartment are likely still in tact- so dont give it much thought. Im sure you can imagine what it would take to inspect that area under the floor!

More like cutting open the floor, but I like the fiber optic camera idea!

There are the pre '94 owners that have, and there are the pre '94 owners that will... Unfortunately, I'm still in the second group! |

Not to be argumentative but 1993 was the first year CC switched to composite stringers. Don't want to hurt ANY '93 owners' feelings. Other than that, a very true statement! |

Oops, mixed up the years again... My bad!! So I'll rephrase: there are the pre '93 owners that have and there are the pre '93 owners that will... (and unfortunatly I'm still in the second group, even after the rephrasing ). |

FWIW-The vents under the floor in mine were completely blocked, crushed, clogged, and a few more things that escape me now. The first couple of years I had it, it must've been breathing bacerds...from under the gas tank.

Too true. I wish I had a climate controlled space to store my boat. |
