If I am going to be bummed out by having to winterize, might as well have a hand from my main man...he knew we couldnt play until the boat was done, so he wanted to help.

He learned quick...

She's done and ready for winter, this year took longer with me answering a lot of WHY questions!
...for those lucky enough to live in warm areas, feel free to post a few pictures of enjoying the sun..could help the cold weather blues.

happy winterizing

To bad your season is done Greg but how cool is it to have that kind of winterizing help! Sure wish my son was still young enough and close enough to help. Used to be the only good thing about putting the boat up...having the son help. We used to store in our garage for a couple years. The wife would go out looking for us on cold nights and there we would be...sitting in the boat...me and the son. Enjoy these times...they go quick!

Jbear, only one thing changed as your son grew older. You now help HIM work on YOUR boat....

You hung in there longer than most Greg. Our boats were winterized a month ago, except the Mustang which got done last weekend. I didn't know you had a son, that's great! A future Fan. That how my boys started out. Now they're doing most of the work.

sorry didnt mean to confuse...my main man is my nephew Michael. We dont have a little one yet but my nephew loves hangin out with me in the boat and I really had a blast hanging with him during the winterization this year - maybe we started a tradition.

Someday I'll have my own stories John, but in the meantime its great to hear yours. I am sure everyone agrees that these boats, make great memories.

Have a good winter Bruce, lets stay in touch, I am hoping to make the boat show with the crew this year. Tell the boys I said hello.

Greg, did you ask him what type of oil and filter he recommends?

Very cool to have little helpers around. I used to help (watch really!) the original owner of my '63 when I was 7-8, in the late '60's. He was a meticulous guy, everything had to be clean and perfect, I'm not half the mechanic he was but I certainly learned at a young age. I look back and appreciate how patient and cheerful he was with me.

He did have a blast putting the oil back in. He might have gotten a little oil on the valve covers but its all good, he figured that out pretty quickly too. The way I'm thinking...within the next 5 years, he could have the winterize mastered...which means it will be my turn to get sit in the driver's seat and pretend I'm driving the whole time.

Is this a support group? Please!

I just drove mine up to storage, cried all the way home, hour drive. Just as I was able to get on with my day UPS showed up with a box from skidim, the parts for my Spring project arrived. After I was able to let that go I checked the mail. My drain plug for the ski locker showed up. Man, what a rough day! What am I going to do? My Mom wants me to learn to knit, I might, if it makes me feel better. I can't get my boat back until after April 1st.

I'm putting skis on it next year!
