Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of the Department of Energy, during the Carter Administration?

We've spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency, the reason for which I could not remember.

It was The Department Of Energy instituted on 8/04/1977, TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL. Pretty efficient???

NOW IT'S 2010, 33 YEARS LATER, AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS "NECESSARY" DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR. IT HAS 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES; AND LOOK AT THE JOB IT HAS DONE!

33 Years ago 30% of our oil consumption was from foreign Imports. Today 70% of our oil consumption is from foreign imports.

Now, Thanks to the Obama Administration on a House and Senate spending spree agreed to HAVE THE BANKING SYSTEM, HEALTH CARE, AND THE AUTO INDUSTRY MANAGED BY THE SAME GOVERNMENT System.

Turning ourselves into, or being turned into buy our leaders? The democratic strategy has long been to create a dependant class that is a built in voter pool. Providing just enough benefit that makes it hard to take a minimum wage job, and escape the system. Instead people sit on the government entitlement programs and just demand more. Add the every expanding payroll of government jobs and you getover half of americans benefiting from bigger goverment. Unfortunatly it has to be payed by someone and those in the privat sector will bail as their costs increase and rewards decrease leaving a massive system with no one to pay.

The fact that half of the workers in the US do not even make enough to be taxed also speaks volumes. If all you can earn is minimum wage and you have 1 child how could you not be on some sort of gvt assistance. Free lunch at school, daycare, and housing will all be subsidised in some way if all you take home is minimum wage.   Its just not enough to live on- period.

Because you can't give healthcare, campaign all over the country, benefits to unemployed, welfare, illegals schooling, foodstamps, take vacations with family & friends, bail out banks, auto companies, and be on TV everyday and expect to give tax breaks too!

Why the he!! not? It is a great time for spending and tax cuts. Every time taxes are reduced the economy grows and government collections go up. It has worked every time. Unemployment is climbing to near ten percent again, we have staqgflation, and more people on food stamps than ever before. Time to stop punishing businesses and succesful people. Motivate them and let them lose. Obama admitted there were no shovel ready jobs. We sent medicare stimulus checks to dead people and prison inmates. Obama said he would not rest until the economy was fixed but instead he has taken record numbers of vacations and played over 50 rounds of golf in less than two years. Governments solutions are not working. Time to give us hope and change back to policies that work, not just reward unions and political allies.

I voted today. One button is all it took.

Forty-two Bush Administration appointees resigned over the 8 years Bush was in office. Do some research and look at how corrupt a lot of those people were that resigned. Remember Scooter Libby G W's Boy?
