Howdy All,
I have a 96 Sport Nuatique in which I need to replace the exhaust tube on the port side. I have a single exhaust setup so the exhaust tube goes into the muffler box and then out the back. To get to the hose at the muffler box I am going to need to pull the floor to get to the hose clamps. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this...... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! |

I don't have one, so I am making a bit of an assumption here.
You should be able to simply remove the motor box and rear seat, then lift the rear floor section out. |

not sure when they changed to hull hugger mufflers..but anyway the rear floor section is no holded by anything..remove the doghouse and the rear seat and you can lift it...
Gun..funny my septic tank muffler is set in the opposite way..wonder if there´s a reason for that... |

so the leak is from the rubber hose that runs from the header to the muffler? in that case there´s no need to lift the floor..
if the leak is from the tube that exits from the muffler to the transom..well in that case my recomendation is to replace the rubber hose with 4" stainless steel tube/pipe 304 or 308 grade..it will look nicer and sound even nicer...I did it on mine and I´m pleased with the results... while in there I would closely inpect the muffler as they tend to crack and leak..anyway if you are handy with fiberglass repair its easy to fix...and also its easy to learn in the event you never work with it... |

I don't know what the difference would be except that you have one of those motors with the distributor on the wrong end. |

not anymore..retrofited the engine last month..so the chevy wannabe is gone forever...
now that you menction that..I need to remove the protec decal from the engine cover... |

Kapla, can you share a pic or two? I have a 93 Sport and replaced the riser gasket (easy job) but I think I put some stress on the fiberglass muffler because when I water tested it, there was some water leaking around the rubber hose that comes from the riser, leaking where it attaches to the fiberglass muffler. I got it to stop today, but I think it isn't a long term fix. I don't want to buy a new muffler. Does the tube your referring to work in my situation you think? If not, does anyone know if I need to do some glass work on the muffler?

It looks like in 96 CC switched to the hull hugger mufflers. Notice the larger engine covers in 95 as compared to the 96.
With a 96 Sport -lift the backrest of the backseat straight up to remove (flip the seat bottoms up and lift from underneath) -there should be 2 pins holding the base of the seat bottoms down on each end -Pull the gas shocks on the bottom of the clam shell/engine cover (use a standard screw driver on the head of the shock) -Remove the engine cover -Remove floor panel. This is what we've had to do for our 96 SNOB, should be pretty much the same for your sport. |

Yes there is a reason Seb. As you know your in the Southern Hemisphere where the water drains clockwise hence the muffler has to be the opposite of the northern models.CC has thought of everything hence the phrase "Waters of the World". Now if you believe that I have a bridge for sale--- |

Patrick..this is the only picture of the muffler I have here..but If you do some search arround, there was a recent post of a member doing some repairs on the mufflers inlets (from riser to muffler). The inlets tend to crack if the hose clamps are set tight....yes with some glass you should be able to repair it...I will try to find it for you..
