I have to be in Boston on the 18th, and Manchester, NH on the 19th.
Any chance of getting together with some CCFans for beers? I have met some of you in the area and would love to see you again. Others I only know through this website, and it would be great to meet you and hoist a cold one together. I'm definitely in on the night of the 18th. Could potentially be in on the 17th, and could potentially stay over on the evening of the 19th. Let me know if there is any interest as I need to firm up flights etc. tomorrow. BKH |

HMM. When I posted the same message for the Chicago guys a few years ago, we had at least 20 guys show up, and they've been meeting regularly ever since.
Oh well, I'm going to be in Boston. If anyone is interested, I'll buy the first round. If not, oh well, missed opportunity. BKH |

Hi Brian, I just noticed your post. I don't tend to look in the off-topic section as often as some others.
I live in Concord, so Manchester would be easy. My problem is with nights, too much going on with the kids to get away. If you are available for lunch or even in the afternoon on Friday let me know. |

Or ... again if you had time in the middle of the day, I could bring the '63 and we could launch on the Merrimack River in Hooksett, about 10 minutes north of Manchester. We'd most likely freeze, especially with a few beers, but might be fun. It's only a short stretch of river that can be run, maybe a few miles. Just a thought ......

Hey David,
Thanks for the note. Looks like I will have moring of 18th Free in Boston. Night of 18th Free, I could probably meet anywhere. Afternoon of 19th, probably free in Manchester. Night of 19th Free, I could be most anywhere but have a flight out of logan at 7:30 am on Saturday the 20th. While a quick run in the boat would be very cool, not sure if I'll have the chance. About 5 years ago, I attended the first Green Lake, reunion. Met a lot of guys, and thereafter every three or four months when I would travel to Chicago, I would put out the call to meet for beers. Typically about 15 to 20 guys would show up. Was a great way to reconnect, and also to meet 1 or 2 new faces every time. About 3 years ago I stopped travelling to Chicago, but the guys there have continued to meet every three or 4 months. Not sure how frequently I'll be travelling to Boston. Some of it depends upon whether I land the deal there. But I know I'll be back to Manchester on December 7 as well. So, I just thought it would be nice to gather up some of the greater Boston area guys and share a few beers. If any of my free times work for you, would be great to meet. If not, perhaps I can catch you when I return on Dec 7. BKH |

I looked at things today - it's possible I could move a few things, visit my Mom on Thursday (she's north of Boston), and meet you in Boston after all, late afternoon or evening. Where are you staying?

David, Larry, et. al.
Plans are firming up. I will be staying on State Street in Boston. Have the late afternoon and evening of the 18th open, presumably in Boston somewhere. Would love to meet up with any and all Boston Area CCFans. Someone suggest a place and I will be there. On the 19th, I plan to meet up with Keith somewhere between Manchester, NH and Boston. Details to follow. Again, late afternoon and evening, and would welcome any and all CCfans. Would be great to meet some new faces, and revisit with some old friends. BKH 925dash998dash4683 |

Brian, I just picked up your voicemail last night... sorry about not catching you when you called! Id love to get together while youre out east, but unfortunately Im no longer a MA resident- Im about 3 hrs from Boston now in northwest CT. If you end up sticking around through the weekend, let me know- Im actually heading to Maine to pick up a trailer on Sunday. We may be short on time, but we're going to try and connect with as many CCFans on the way as we can! If we miss each other this time, definitely let me know if you start making your way back to this coast on a regular basis and we'll set something up for sure.

Hey Tim, Once again we will call on your expertise in a vast range of subject areas. Brian said throw out an idea for a meeting place around Quincy Market, (since he said State Street) I dont know that part of town at all. If it was out Fenway way, I could throw out some ideas. Did you ever hang out downtown and can recommend any place. Appear to be a number of choices. I see an Irish pub on the map...usually can't go wrong with that.

Larry, youre probably talking about McCormick and Schmicks, which is in Fanieul Hall- thats a good choice. There are quite a few choices around there... The Union Oyster House and The Bell in Hand are right on Union St as well.
Wish I could be there with you guys! |

This all sounds great. Did not realize you moved Tim. New job as well?
We'll try to get this all firmed up tonight and tomorrow. Like the Sound of the Oyster House or the Bell in Hand. Has a nice local sound to it. BKH |

Yep, new job in CT as of last spring. I closed on my cottage in Jan and had been looking to get back closer to home full time. Boston was great, but definitely like being closer to the lake, family, etc... even if it means living in the sticks.
The Union Oyester House is probably a little pricier if youre going to get food than the other places, but its America's Oldest Restaurant so its full of old world Boston charm. |

Bell N Hand is a pretty good spot. I work a 10 minute walk away! I know some other spots as well, but can't go wrong with the first one.
Keep me in the loop. I usually get out at 5:30 or so, so could be there ten minutes after that. |

Another favorite downtown spot of mine is:
Foleys Good draft selection, beers a shade cheaper than Faneuil Hall and a little less touristy. A little more local character as well. It's on Kingston St., which is behind Macy's near Downtown Crossing: Map Another good one is elephantcastle which is here: Elephant and Castle Map I could go on and on. There's no shortage of bars near State St.! |

I wouldn't mind meeting up with you guys. I will be in the area from Nov 29 - Dec 10. I will be working in Norwell and staying in Rockland. I won't be staying the weekend but would be able to meet up somewhere any of the weeknights. I would look forward to meeting anyone from this site.

Brian (Bri...) Glad you found this thread. Be great to have you join us and glad you know the area better than I. I wasnt going to be a very good guide for Brian H since I am not particularly familiar with that part of town. See you there thursday evening. Not sure of meeting details yet, but they should gel in the next 24 hours or so.

Sounds like Bri89 knows tha spot pretty well. Just pick one and I'll be there 5 to 5:30 time frame.
Less costly beer is always good. But then again, costly beer is always good as well. A local flavor would be good as well. I realize this is the financial district, so probably not the land of dive bars. I am sure whatever you choose will be fine. Keith and Brad were going to pick a place for the 19th. Probably somewhere near the MA/NH border. Should be some details up on that tonight or tomorrow as well. BKH |

Hey BK - as for Friday the 19th, Salem, NH is a great spot to choose between Manchester and Boston, about 30 minutes from each city so it's right in the middle. I can suggest a couple of places right off the highway and if you decide on Salem, I would be able to grab a beer before I leave town for the weekend with you guys if it was early enough. Would be great to meet you and see Brad, Keith and others again. I'll keep an eye on this thread to stay in the loop...Hope everyone is doing well.

Well, it sounds like a lot of people are familiar with the Bell N Hand, so we can start there at 5:30ish and see how it goes.
Purple Shamrock is practically next door, so we could easily make that a stop if we decide to move around a little bit. |

I can't make Thursday, too much family stuff going on, will still try for Friday.
The Bell in Hand is a fun place, probably OK space-wise on a Thursday, definitly worth a try. |

As far as thursday goes, sounds like 5:30ish at Bell in Hand. Paul, glad you can make it too. Will be good seeing you again. Can get the details on that new boat.
There are separate plans gelling for Friday, so it sounds like Brian is going to be well taken care of and will see some NE hospitality. |

Well, in Boston. Certainly a lot of young people out drinking late on a Wednesday night. I like it. Perhaps I should have lived here as a youngster.
So, I guess it is Bell N Hand 5:30 on Thursday. Smokey Bones 5:30 on Friday. See you then. BKH |

Yup, that's true. If you think Wednesday is busy, Thursday pretty much starts the weekend. If we're still out when Bell N' Hand and other Faneuil Hall bars start to get really crazy, I know a couple of places that will be a little more mellow. Shouldn't be a concern before 8pm or so though.

Yeah...that pretty much sums Boston up....well that and horrific traffic and "wicked" corrupt politicians. But all that being considered, it is a pretty fun town. |
