How do I know if the pump is going bad? It performed like it should all summer aside from having to put fluid in about every two trips to the lake.
Thanks |

Yes, Eric has mentioned it many times, that the seal really doesn't see any pressure if the pump is good. Time for a rebuild??? |

are you sure your pump is in good shape? is it leaking between the shaft and the seal?

Yea that's what I did the last time. I slid it back as far as I could but it didn't last a day before it started leaking. I'm going to get a speed sleeve as soon as someone can tell me the shaft size.
And also can someone tell me the part # on the seal I've lost the number some where. Thanks |

or recess the seal until it rides on a good clean surface. there is room to push it in another 1/8 with no problem. its a double lip seal and the front lip is a dust seal. be more concerned about where the back lip rides.
if need be you can use a speedi sleeve, but i dont know the shaft size off of the top of my head because i measured it years ago and now merely just order the sleeve by part number, which also i cant remember until tommorow. but, do you think the shaft is clean enough to push it back farther? |

I replaced the main shaft seal twice this past summer and the leak keeps comming back. The shaft is pitted very little. How can I stop it from messing up seals without installing a new shaft in the trans?
