Yeah, I got my boat in the garage and stored right before a few inches hit this last weekend. That's the absolute latest I have gotten it put away. Just in time...

We're still decent here in the southern plains...mo ice or snow yet, but you can tell it's coming.

I wish it would snow and freeze everything around here. I am a big duck hunter and the colder the better. My boat is tucked away in a nice cozy insulated garage with light bulb in the engine compartment in case it gets below 15 degrees outside

Shot 12 with my buddies this weekend...9 mallards. First mallards of the year here in eastern IA...it has been WAY too warm all over for them to move anywhere yet. Fraid the season will be over before we can get some fat ducks.

By the way, Dave, I lived in SD for a few years. I sure don't miss moving all that snow (whether by hand or with a snow blower).

It is one more motor to run though. Should have taken a picture for Pete. Bolens 24" with an 8HP techumsa. Two stage, electric start, tire chains, and heated hand grips. I am guessing it was about an 800$ rig new. Bought it from a guy when it was about 10 years old. He said it belonged to his dad who had passed away 7 years earlier. It had sat in his garage since. He had a plow service do his driveway. Did not even have rust on the auger. paid $150.

Ill have some hot chocolate brewing. Its melting fast but they reportedly recieved eleven inches about 10 minutes from here. I would say we must have gotten about eight at my house. Great snow man snow. Very heavy, and very early for it to stick around. Of course we did have the Halloween 18 inch blizzard in the early 90's.

This was half way through the 17 inches but it has a shot of the snow blower in it.

Got too windy and nasty to stay out and take photos later, but at least 3' deep at the end of the drive where the plow came by. 11 below this AM. Dome is deflated, and so am I. Think spring.

I'm stoked about that. Plus I have a 6 day weekend to get some good snowmobiling in over new years weekend.

Tom where are you planning on riding? I will probably get some time off that first week after new years, always looking for some place new to ride

Mike, very cool. What ya ridin there a ZL??? I would be willing to meet you over by Madison, that would split the drving distance in half. Otherwise, when I don't ride from home, I usually ride from the Wautoma area, up by Green Lake. As a matter of fact it looks like about 90% probablility I will be riding out of there on the 23rd, your welcome to join us. Otherwise, I would be willing to meet you somewhere around Madison sometime too. Where do you ride in IA?

Steve,

I have a 96 Cougar 550 that I bought 3 years ago because a good friend of mine let me ride his old 440. I got hooked right away and wanted to get by with a cheapy for a couple years to see if I took to it. Some day I'll get a newer one that's a little bigger and faster but this thing is in amazing shape. I bought it for like 700 bucks studded, new seat, low miles from a guy in IA. Here's an ok pic of it.

I ride by my parents place on the Mississippi quite a bit...very close to shore obviously haha. It's right where we ski all summer long so I know the river better than I know anything else. My dad's brother lives up the river and his sister lives a little further up the river so I make the run between all of their houses for quick rides. For all dayers I usually run out to The Coralville Rez which is the lake I met Chris on this summer with the Nautiques. My buddy that introduced me to sledding lives out there and runs Scales Pointe Marina (big Nautique Fans as well) so we have a few fun runs a year out there! They are about 90 miles away from me so it isn't too bad. I also have plenty of ditches around my town to take refuge in.

Good lookin ride, it looks like its in GREAT shape! I will be back in DBQ over the holidays at some point, and I always threatened to bring the sleds, there used to be trails in DBQ county, but they don't seem to be there anymore, so I have been a little reluctant. Lets keep in touch, you must have a trailer, so maybe we could hook up over the holidays in WI.

Yea it's in really good shape. The only place the PO rode was groomed trails up there in Wiscansin with his kids...He claimed it never went over 40mpg lol But...the first year I had it I did blow it up and had to throw a new piston in it. It stopped pumping oil and it heated up when we were flying across the lake at 90. It was an experience for sure. I learned alot about two stroke motors though so that was a plus!

I do have a little single trailer that I picked up this year. It's light and small, but it does the job very well. It's handy being able to pull it around!

Steve, my cottage is in Tomahawk, on Lake Mohawksin. I head up as much as I can, and I am really looking forward to doing a lot of riding this year, now that I am gainfully employed again and have vacation days to use again.

If you want to meet up that weekend, or any weekend really I can head up, send me an email at horkn3875 at yahoo.com. Anyone else is welcome to meet up with me too.

The one can't miss weekend to head up in that area is CruiserFest weekend in Minocqua, Feb 11-12 or whatever that Friday and Saturday is. They have free demo rides, tons of people show up, drag racing, food, and beer. It's a good time and I have only missed it once in the 8 years it has been going on. It's a 30 minute ride by sled to Minocqua from my cottage. Trails open up Friday by my cottage, and will be all groomed after this weekend.

My solo ride.

I still have to replace the hyfax on the 2 up, but that shouldn't take me too long.

We get a lot of use out of the venture because the wifey likes to ride along. It's a good thing she likes to ride fast, or she would have to drive her own sled more.

Mike, those early 550 LC cats had issues with head gaskets. That's probably why it blew early on. Even my buddy's 2000 panther 550 with the same motor in it as yours had a head gasket problem. So even at the end of that motor's run in new sleds they still had issues.
