I have a rollins trailer for my 90 sport, and when i launch the boat the trailer floats. It is more of a problem when I am putting it back on the trailer. I think it is a combination of the tires and the wooden bunks. I tried filling PVC with sand but that was not enough. Concrete? Any Ideas?
thanks! |

Wow, I've never heard of anything like this on a larger trailer. Does it have larger fenders or step plates that could be holding air when you back it into the water? Otherwise, I wouldn't see a reason for it floating?? I'll be curious to see how this plays out!!

Is the trailer a tube frame construction? If so maybe the frame is just holding air and a few holes drilled at a high and low spot would allow the frame to fill with water and sink.
The trailer for my 81 with the fiberglass fenders will float when retrieving the boat if we back in too quick. It will actually move a few feet to the side before it sinks, we just have to back in slower and let the air escape from under the fenders. |

You can’t change the wind but you can adjust your sails

Just an idea, but are you in the water too deep? Try putting the trailer in with the fenders barely out of the water. You may be already doing this.
I hope this helps, Donald |

Never heard of this...
the same sort of thing happened to us on a duck hunt this year though...except the boat was frozen to the trailer...That was quite the surprise haha |

Bret, What don't you believe happened without photographic proof? The floating trailer or the boat frozen to the trailer? |

My old tubular bayliner trailer if backed in quikly would float briefly then sink usualy one side first then the other. I would have drilled it if it took longer to sink.

For thousands of years men have felt the irresistible urge to go to sea, and many of them died. Things got better after they invented boats.

I have had good luck with putting my trailer right to the top of the fenders, easy on and off. I bought a Dorsey for my 83 and they have nice sized drain holes so it sinks right away......

Call rollins and see what they suggest.
