Okay guys try this one on: I have a Chrysler M440B in my 1974 Sotuhwind20. Now I want to keep this engine "as is" for the benefit of all the matching numbers and the engine is the original engine (the 'Keep it Original' theory). But I want to tfind another M440 that I can stick my wrench to as well as my skill as an engine builder and come up with a powerhouse 440 that will make at least 500hp reliably and can be actually operated on the water. No one shot engines that require constant attention.

My options are to find another M440 and start researching and building, or get a modern 440 short block and use the nearly infinite number of parts combinations to create a left hand rotation engine.

In doing this, it creates a whole new set of problems - well, inconveniences really - involving rotating the pump in the transmission (Velvet Drive), getting another prop (I may have to play with them anyway to dial in this monster), and just setting up the raw water pumps, and so on.

So anyone know where I can find an old M440 R/H marine engine?

Tony,
3 copied and pasted posts? You must not want anyone to miss your need for the 440!

BTW, I posted a idea in the first thread under the "general discussion" incase you missed it.

Thanks, Pete. I will check it out. Say, I found an Atom Skier at one of these sites for about $2,500.00. Would it be worth it?
