I have a problem with neighbourhood cats sleeping on my boat cover/boat at night, leaving paw marks and fur and it's really bugging me. Does anyone have a simple/home made solution that will stop them from using my boat cover as a hammock? Thanks

Yes, they run wild pretty much, owned by the locals who do not care for them. They are a nuisance messing in my garden, fighting, mating and screeching all the time and messing up my boat which is in a covered parking bay in my property. There is a "FELINE FRIENDS" group which is run by expats here in Dubai but they are not going to be able to help me with this annoying problem. I thought I could make effective use of a 12 bore shotgun but no guns allowed in Dubai and furthermore it would upset a lot of people and destroy my boat as well. Personally I like cats but not when they are wrecking my stuff.

Put a few "moth balls" in the exhaust pipes. It keeps the cats & mice off my boat when its in the barn in the winter.

Moth balls or crushed red pepper.

Get a trap for small game like squirrels, etc. Trap the cats and take them to the neighbors once. The second time either take them to a facility or take them far enough away and drop them off so they won't find their way back.

If you don't care to take tha approach, some of the suggestions already given MIGHT work as a repellant but it will likely be a constant fight. I've heard that peppermint can work well to keep animals away too. You can put some peppermint extract diluted a bit in water and spray it all over your cover or anywhere you're trying to keep them away from.

australian cattle dog or heeler (whatever you want to call it). Besides being a great pet, they are very effective cat killers.

Put a few mouse traps on the cover with some peanut butter on them (or whatever it is cats like) and see what you find in the morning!

i just noticed that you live in the UAE. My uncle moved to Dubai 3 years ago so i moved into his house while my wife and i were building our house. long story short, my 10 year old cousin had something like 30 cats there when they left so i took the liberty of fixing all the tom cats one saturday. all you'll need a large boot, a sharp knife, a good set of side cutters, and a 12 pack of your favorite beer (bud heavy worked good for me).
