Well, after putting it off for a few weeks , today I finally cut three - 3" holes in my 64 'skier today.. It never had a bilge blower, and that bothered me.
I wasnt looking forward to this...The two rear holes werent too big of a deal, but the front one,on the bow, only had an extra inch or so of clearance between a brace and the lift ring blocking. Its a BIG pain trying to crawl into the hull to measure..( maybe old age setting in?) After an hour of layout, it was time to drill. The front scoop had no bottom/hose adapter, so I bought a 3" plastic shower drain, and did a little "carving" on it....I beveled the outside perimeter of the flange to soften the edge. I then dremelled a "step" into it to make a recess for a screen over the opening. Patience was worth it! Eveything worked out great! Now I just have to get the vents chrome plated and finish running the flex tubing below the floor... Hopefully soon, I wont need to lift the engine cover when idling in a no wake zone! |

Measure, remeasure, remeasure & then cut. Patience is always good, especially when you are carving on your pride & joy. Glad the surgery went well!

Steve, Your in the biz so you probably know this one. "Measure twice cut once". Or my other favorite saying, "I cut it 3 times and it's still too SHORT"
