the carpet in the floor of my boat needs to be replaced. The carpet on the walls is in great shape. I would guess who ever had the boat before me allowed lots of water in while it sat up and caused that carpet to rot.

My question is.
Is it easy to just replace the carpet on the floor without replacing the carpet on the walls of the boat? Luckily my strips are all in good shape so I dont need to replace those.

Also I have looked at this site for a few how to's on carpet replacement with some pictures but could only find one.(wish there was a better search feature on the site)

I figured I would try to do the carpet while I am getting the upholstery done.

The search feature works great, you just need to improve your key word choices and select the proper timeframe.

This is a decent writeup: Carpet replacement

The side carpet is put down first, so its not hard to replace just the floor carpet. You will need to pull the trim and clean it up so you can reuse it. The trick is finding carpet to match the 25 year old carpet that you have on the walls. Pretty tough to do.

Important carpet tip.

Always keep it in the same direction as it comes off the roll.

thank you for the input
nautiqueskins looks like they have the sunset color for my boat.
The hardest part I think will be replacing the floor behind the back seat as it warped a little and sticks up.

Hi MG - Welcome to the site. You might want to investigate the condition of your floor, the foam underneath, & even the stringers (under engine). You might have a bigger repair if you have rotten wood under the carpet.

Post some photos so we can help you.
