I have a 1979 ski tique on original trailer.I don't have a title for trailer. It was never registered in NC.I need to register in NC but can't locate any numbers anywhere on trailer or axle. Boat came from Florida to NC years ago. Any suggestions as to how to get original trailer vin#? Has anyone had to deal with this problem? Thanks for any help.

Going through this now in PA. If you are in contact with the previous owner, they should be able to get a replacement VIN plate. If not you will have to register the trailer as a homemade trailer.

Double check your axle. Sometimes they are stamped on the axle. Mine was on top of the frame rail near the hitch.

I hope this helps,

I ran into the same problem in Colorado. I found it a lot easier to just register it as a homemade trailer. Got a new vin plate and problem solved. That would be my recommendation.
