Youre mad 10+ years later? Get over it.
The 03+ Limited Farias are digital as well, and theyre not problematic. Just a bad decision going with the Teleflex, thats all. At least it was only for 3 years. |

Check out Livorsi. They have GPS and dry speedos in all kinds of looks.
I'm eventually going to replace both of the big Airguides with a 52 mph GPS speedo and the other a 6k tach so it's not hidden behind the steering wheel anymore. |

No! but I just perused Evil-Bay and found over 300 Tachometers. some nice stuff for less then $50.00 even saw a Gaffrig Tach for $70.00 (keeping an eye on that one). A couple of weeks ago I purchased a complete Faria whiteface setup on Evil-bay for a project here, total cost was $145 with shipping, Tach, Speedo, Fuel, water temp, oil pressure, hour meter, my local marine parts house had the volt meter had to pay an extra $16 for it. |

Oh Nice Tim. More help needed though...would those run off the pitot tubes then? I don't think extending the hose on ours would be all too difficult to do...could be a viable option.

Hey guys, I'm back. Leaning towards the replacement from nautiqueparts. Where does the paddlewheel go? Back of the boat or under the motor somewhere?

Mine is almost directly below the motor, slightly left of center, if I remember correctly. My marina launches it in 6 days, if you can wait until Tuesday I'll post pics.

that's where I thought it was...my buddy owns a 91 ski that the PO put perfect pass in and I thought the wheel was where you said yours is...

I have a pdf copy of the instructions that come with the kit. It includes instructions about where to put the paddle wheel. I can email if you like.

Yes Mike that kid would require you to drill a hole for the paddle wheel... NOW if your boat has perfect pass you don't have to as you already have a paddle wheel installed.
Also, although there are not "instructions" for doing the "kit" this way, there is a transom mounted paddle wheel we have in stock. It will work, but you'll have to improvise the install as there are not instructions for doing such. If you wanted to do that option, just put a note on the order you want "transom mount" paddle wheel and we'll swap out. You can also buy separately on the site if you want both paddle wheels and decide what to do later! Thanks, David NautiqueParts.com |

Consider this- buy PerfectPass Stargazer. No paddlewheel hole. GPS speed control AND RPM. Speed control is THE best money you could put into a newer boat. I'm consistently surprised with how many people don't have it yet. Same pull, every time. No arguments after falls or completed slalom passes. Steady as she goes for trick.
From what I understand, moisture is what kills the Teleflex gauges. Mine have not seen a drop of water or dampness since I've had the boat, and they were last swapped in July 2003. So, 8 years and they still work. I have a brand new backup set waiting in the wings, but I still haven't had to use them. My dad has never understood how I have a boat that "can't get wet". "It's a boat, it's supposed to get wet". Sorry dad, not this boat! There is a guy who's handle is "richard" on PN who has repaired the main boards on these gauges, so it can be done. You can crack em' open and re-solder them apparently. Dig around for his posts on that. He always has crazy problems and fixes since he boats in saltwater, in Japan or something. I never, ever, ever use the tach or speedo. The boat is either idling, or under way with a skier with PP engaged. In any other instance I'm ONLY looking at PP RPM and speed. I realize that PP is expensive but I'm just throwing it out there as an alternative to jacking with the gauges, putting the Bayliner-esque replacement Farias in, only to then get PP anyway down the line. |

PP Stargazer has a Tach in it? We enjoy the tach with our show skiing uses. I talked to our Ski Team sponsored Marina and they will be happy to drill the hole and install for us. (replacement faria's)
Our '90 dash has never gotten wet either, I know what you mean there. The only reason these failed is because it was towed 1200 miles from CA to IA through a monsoon. There was a foot of water in the ski locker in the floor. We weren't all too happy with that finding. Do you happen to have the link to this PP stargazer you speak of? If not, I will do some looking for it and check it out. EDIT: HOLY EXPENSIVE lol |

Worth every dime. As a bonus, it gets time from the satellites so you always have a clock with the right time on it. It's the little things. It's also an hour meter. You set the initial hours on it and it keeps track from then on. 'Cause you'll need one of those now too :)

Mike, talk to Jody Seal (FL Inboards). I was thinking about PP last fall before I wrapped my $$ in the Ski Tique this winter. He had a pretty dang good deal and if you can get your marina to install it will be a little cheaper.
Like Joel says, it's amazing to have the PP and the technology has come a LONG ways. Drove a PP SG equipped MC last year and it was extremely nice. Worth every penny to me now that I have other projects and such to keep up with. When I get on the water I want to ski this summer, not tinker with things or worry about speeds and consistency from the driver. |

One problem I see with PP Stargazer for mdvalant is his location. My guess is that he frequents the Mississippi River, equating to GPS speed issues related to the current. Are you on a lake, or skiing the Mighty Mississippi River?
If it's a river application, you want the paddlewheel...whether for PP or your Faria gauges. You can have PP supply software so the speed input comes from the paddlewheel in a current, and from the GPS when current isn't an issue. They don't advertise this option as far as I know, but they assured me they have the software available. |

When I upgrade to a newer boat, unless I get a 96-99, I'm sure I'll need to convert to working gauges too. Since I'm pretty dead set on a GT40 powered CC, my years of options are about cut in half with the 00-02 boats all having these old non functioning, or soon to be non functioning gauges. At that point I'll probably be a tad teed off too. I see far more used 00-02's with the original gauges ,and also unusually low hours. go figure;) In any case, I will figure in the dollars either for gauge replacement, or "lost" hours on a boat depending on it's condition. I've seen a couple that actually look like they have as few hours on them as the teleflex digi gauges show. This IMHO should have been covered by CC's warranty, as a way of preserving CC's residual value. That only helps the company that sells new ones too. |

Right there with ya Horkn. After all, this is correctcraftfan.com not moombamaniacs.com
We own these boats because they are the best! Things like this shouldn't happen. Yea yea, some people made bad decisions and they wanted to be cutting edge I get that, but seriously...I've seen bayliners with gauges that are more reliable :) Can't forget the flaw in the early 1990 boats though. Ours does it. Open up the observer gull wing seat and crush the glove box lid! |

...or putting foam under the floor.
I would guess the change was driven by a need to keep up with other companies. Look at some of the early-mid 90's Malibu's and you'll see pretty much everything is digital. Looks like Doc from back to the future got ahold of a boat! Jody, and input on this? |

Update on the gauges fellas.
We ordered the Faria replacements from white lake. Came in yesterday and dropped the boat off at our marina last night. Should be done by the weekend! |

How are water levels? Steve Workman informed me that they canceled the Muscatine Boat show since water levels are so high. Pretty crazy stuff, was looking forward to maybe driving out for the day.

Oh that's right Chris. Water levels have dropped from the 20ft they were sitting at to about 17 today. 16 is flood stage. Dad just yesterday was able to see 6in of sand down on his beach so it's going the right direction...just very slowly.
It's supposed to sit at 16-17 for quite a few more days though :( Mississippi at Dubuque |

We got the newest river update today, looks like 65 feet at Natchez Miss. That puts it 5 feet above the great flood of 1927, our levee system here "should handle" the extra water donated to us from our northern states.
We do still have two flood control structures south of us. Bonne Carre floodway and Morganza Spillway will be used to take some of the pressure off our levee's here , still 250 river miles to The Gulf.............. 2.1 million cubic feet per second is flowing past Natchez at this level, and will only increase till May 21... Wish us luck..........Boat dr |
