So I am planning on re-painting the graphics on my boat and have a couple questions. When looking at the photos in the brochure it seems the pinstripe that runs above and below the striping is black. The pinstripe is currently black on my boat but where it is worn it is blue underneath. Is it supposed to be black or blue?
Second, the rear graphics. Are they supposed to be outlined in black? Thanks |

I dont think they were black but it looks good though, I even considered doing that black lineout on mine too.
How do you plan to do the repaint? did you get the whole graphic template? |

I was planning on using a transparent mask and then cutting out the graphics.

I believe my blue '81 had the black pin, just like yours. I have no doubt those stripes were original.

Just for reference, my red '80 does NOT have black pinstriping... the outlne is also red. Not sure if the off colored pin was optional, or if it was a mid-1980 switch, or if what CC did varied by color- but it appears they did both. I know BJ Bowling's (Hasbeenskier) red '80 SN got a black pin when he repainted the stripes.

My 80 is blue, but it was redone in the past. It is not the orginal work.

My '80 looks exactly like yours, same blue main color with black pin stripe and outline on top, rear design. Any letters on the boat do not have the black outline.
I'm also looking into repainting the graphics and was wondering what type of paint you were going to use? |

One more data point... the other 80/81 on my lake is all blue- no black pin. Im not 100% sure its the original paint, but if I had to guess, Id say it was.

Looked at an old pic of my 80' which had the rust color graphics, know for a fact it was original and it was done the same as the top pic, black outlines and where it was worn in some spots it looked like there was color under the black.

My 80 is just like the above pictures. Black outline is faded and showing the blue beneath it.
I will be using Rustoleum to paint mine. I understand that was what the factory used. |
