Well, just picked up a used air chair off Craigslist. Has been something that I have always wanted to try but never had the opportunity. Picked up this old model for $500 and figure I can sell for the same if I want, so what the heck...
So anyone out there have any advice for a complete newbie? I have watched a few videos on youtube, but any and all advice that can help avoid what seems to be the inevitable face plant would be appreciated. |

lean forward as you come up. Otherwise you will up and down quick. I bet other will give you a better advice.

There's a few tutorials for beginners over on foil forums, the videos are up on you tube as well. You shouldn't have any problem getting your money back on that, and although the equipment has improved dramatically that should last you through the year. I'll let you find the videos and give it a try before I comment on anything. Just remember this, it's a skill and there are no naturals, but everyone can learn it just takes some time. While some people find the progression is a bit slow, but if you stay at it anyone can do it and go as far as they want with it. Good luck.

Most important thing is be careful of getting wrapped up in the rope, if you have a trick release I would certainly use it and/or be sure your driver/observer is always conscientious of what is happening.
Riding you want to make slow adjustments while learning, foils will react pretty quickly to even the slightest adjustments. Raising the handle will generally bring the nose down, while lowering it will do the opposite, the same holds true for leaning forward or back. Foiling is a blast, you will be amazed how effortless it can be to ride once you get the feel for it, all about finesse. You may also want to visit www.foilforum.com |

Thanks for the comments, guys. I can't wait to try it out. Unfortunetly, I have to go to a family reunion with the inlaws this weekend in Chcago and will not be able to go to the lake. But next weekend is looking good.
