I have a 1969 Barracuda that i am restoring. All gauges work except speedometer. I also would like to have a ski pylon.

Andrew,
How have you tested the speedo? Any leaks in the ptiot tubing or the pulsation dampener? Have you connected regulated air directly to the speedo? That will tell you if the metal bellows inside is split. It's common but the repair is easy. You silver solder the split.

I tried blowing air into the fitting on the back, nothing. I tried to slowly remove the nut from the fitting but the whole fitting tries to turn. Any ideas?

I managed to get the nut off the fitting. How does the back come off?

Andrew,
You need to remove the speedo from the dash. You have the Teleflex speedo which isn't the easiest to get into. The case snaps into the bezel. Blow (remember regulated air starting at 0) and see what happens. If you hear air leaking inside, continue. If not and you get needle movement, move on to more testing.

Have you checked the tubing and the dampners as suggested? It would be a good idea to just change the tubing out. With the age, it's probably getting pretty brittle.

Yes, that nut really isn't threaded on. It does have "threads" but it's just a compression fitting to snug the tubing onto the barbs.
