I own a beautiful 1986 2001 Ski Nautique. Have had this beauty since 2005. I have developed a VERY hard to start problem. Crank and crank and it finally starts. Just replaced fuel pump, no help. Holly was rebuilt about 4 years ago getting ready to have it done again. Any small thing I might be missing. I think if it was the coil there would be more of a running problem..........As always thanks to all.

Carl - Try the simple things first. Check your timing - if too far advanced it will be hard to start. Try pouring a small amount of gas down the carb to see if it perks up. If that does, then it's definitely not getting gas - maybe your filter is getting plugged, or the anti siphon valve could be clogged.

So what is your starting method?
How is the cranking speed? Now how could we describe the adjustment? I'll try,; To begin, At 75 degrees ambient, and the ignition having not been on(else the element heats), rotate the choke so there is just enough preload to hold up a credit card from sliding between the plate and the air horn. |
