Andrew,
It's real simple to find info in the reference section and this is out of an early PCM manual but, nothing really changed through the 50's, 60's and 70's. What's your problem?????

I removed the gauges to have the boat painted. I now have an orange wire that goes to the rear of the boat. But, I can't remember where it connected to at the dash. Don't remember which gauge it went to.

Andrew,
The orange wire did NOT go to a gauge. It's your main feed to the Amp meter. From there, it's red to the ignition switch out to all the accessories/gauges as well as back to the start relay (solenoid) for the battery charging. It sounds like you could use some big time help. Keep in mind that these early boats did NOT have much overload protection in them. Before you start the boat on fire, get someone who knows what they are doing.

Andrew,
I'm sorry to hear you are having the boat painted! I thought you said you were restoring the boat! I'm very confused!! Maybe it's a problem with the term "restoration"?? We need pictures!!

Andrew,
I just went though some of your old posts. What did you end up doing with the stringers after removing the deck and finding them in "bad shape"??
Listen, you are asking for lots of info and not giving us ANY feedback. We try to help as much as possible but also love to hear the results. This is not a "one sided" forum. (I have answered every single one of your questions with zero feed back!!) Where are the pictures?? Now, do not tell me you are computer illiterate! I too am of "old school" but older than you!!!. Yes, it took some time to figure out some computer skills but it did need some patience. The old saying is, "you can learn something every day of your life and still die stupid!!" Fill us in or good luck with your "restoration"!!!!!

BTW, when you post in all capitals, it sounds like you are shouting. Check your "caps lock" button!!

A response would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help. I am actually putting the gauges back into the dash. Everything is wired correctly, only the one wire was misplaced. I didn't hook it up to power. I haven't posted any pictures because I really haven't done anything. I have not gotten much further than I was last time I posted. I've had alot going on. I recently bought another house on a lake. Lucky for me, it came with a completely restored 1976 Mustang. I don't have room for another boat, or the time to restore one,so I gave this one to my brother in-law. It was originally his Uncle's. He was beside himself! His plans are to restore it. Thanks again for your help.

Andrew,
Thanks for getting back to us. If the opportunity does come up, do get some pictures. It would be great if you got both boats into the diaries as well.

EDIT: So, what about my stringer question???

We have a cousin in Charleston, SC, who has a friend who is going to replace the stringers & floor with a composite material. That way it won't have to be done again.
