After 27 years - the '84 Ski Tique finally cracked an exhaust hose. Looking to replace both hoses with 3" wire reinforced hose bought by the foot. Heard the number 16 feet before but wanted to check that that's enough/too much or if anyone else has suggestions.

Pat, I believe you can probably get by with 2 pieces of 6' long hose. We got 14' for the BFN and had some left over. If Im not mistaken, 6' is a length commonly sold by CC dealers (check White Lake and N3). It wouldnt be a bad idea to pull up your floor panel and measure for yourself though- the hose isnt cheap! For pricing, check Go2marine, skidim and the aforementioned Nautique dealers to see who is the best. Make sure youre comparing the corrugated wire reinforced (there is also non-corrugated wire reinforced as well as soft wall non-reinforced). The corrugated bends much better than the other 2, and wont kink.
Does that boat not have mufflers? Or are you just leaving them out? If you can tolerate a bit more exhaust noise, you may be able to save a few bucks if you want to add a section of SS tubing (3-4') on each side. |

You mean all hose (not tubes)?
Joe has confirmed that the stock mufflers dont have a performance penalty though, so the only reason to leave them out is if you want to make the boat louder. My vote would be to only buy as much hose as was in the boat originally. |

Hadn't really thought about leaving the mufflers out with the new hose - but think that I'm liking that idea!!! Skidim has some pretty affordable wire reinforced hose that shouldn't make this replace to painful! Any preference on where to get the SS tubing?

If you use SkiDIM, make sure you buy this hose. Dont forget the 10% discount.
Ive gotten SS tubing from Verocious Motorsports, but there may be cheaper options out there now. |

I may just be a nice guy and let Pat have the 7 ft of Copper I have (for the time being at least) and see how much louder we will actually get. That would get us 3.5 ft on each side and save some money till this winter when I was planning to put it in my 78.
This boat has been serving as our early AM barefoot boat this summer so we're running pretty fast at 6 and 7 am. No complaints from home owners...yet!

Pete, what are the specs you posted for the SS tubing?
Was it the same as the link Tim provided? .065"? Trying to see if we can source some locally, my uncle donated 5ft of Copper but that will only serve one side until he can round up some more left overs (he's a heating and cooling guy). |

What is the best way to cut the corrugated, re-enforced, exhaust tubing?
I have two short runs of softwall, non-corrogated, going to my invertaflow muffler, that aren't totally straight. I'd like to replace them with the corrugated. |

I've always just cut it with a hack saw. If it's wired, when you get to it, you can snip it off with a pair of diagonals.
