I bought my Tique in pieces 81 Tique and finally got it in the water about a month ago. Absolutely no issues at all, except that when it's full of gas the vent belches gas out on the back of the hull into the lake.
Is there supposed to be some sort of baffle or valve in the vent hose to prevent this from happening? Thanks, Kent |

Mine does the same thing, ---wrong idea/bad suggestion edited for future readers----
add a high loop on the hose to the vent |

I can't really high loop it. The glass is directly above it now. I was wondering if I could find some sort of petroleum resistant foam to pack in the hose, in a spot where it couldn't get back into the tank.

I'm not sure I follow your idea.
And then I though on the one way valve i suggested earlier, that would work for not letting water in, not fuel out, so dischard that idea. |

Kent isn't following the idea!! Kent, High loop the vent hose!! It works!!! Do you want a picture?? Get a longer vent hose - like about 5' longer. From the tank make a big loop and strap it to the underside of the aft deck before going to the through hull. BTW, not overfilling the tank helps too! |

When it's happening crack open the fill cap, it will stop the siphon/belching.

How about adding a fuel/air separator?

That's because the gas sloshes to the back and pushes the fuel up the line. Adding the suggested loop gives the gas farther to travel without spilling out. |

Greg, Yes!!!! It worked for me on my Tique. Joel, there's no vertical room between the tank and the deck to get one of the "check valve air/fuel separators" in there. They need to be installed vertically and there just isn't the room. |

Actually, it is pressure. HW's point is to add a second vent for air. |

High loop the vent hose Get a longer vent hose - like about 5' longer. From the tank make a big loop and strap it to the underside of the aft deck before going to the through hull. Great idea for many of us with vinyl graphics on the transom. I'm doing this ASAP. I never wanted to redo the graphics back there thinking gas leakage would be a reoccurring problem when trailering and backing down the ramp.... Plus it's much safer with less smell. The way gas prices have been fluctuating I have been filling up more when gas is cheaper. A lot of smart folks on this site. Thanks Rich |

Just make sure the loop is horizontal, not vertical. You cannot have trap like under your sink, otherwise it will fill with gas or water and no longer vent.

I have this problem too. One more winter project to add to the list. Easy fix too. Right now I try to never fill up much more than 3/4 tank.
