To clarify, the raw water pump hose is one of the U shaped ones in the front where the T drain is right. I understand this is where i am dumping the antifreeze. Is it the impeller side or the other?

No it's not! As mentioned, it's the hose going to the "T" stat housing. Have you looked at the manual (under "layup") in the reference section or looked at previous posts? There are plenty of pictures to look at |

yes I have the manual and have seen the very dark photos, and as a PT 'the T stat housing' does not mean anything to me, kinda like me discussing proprioception to a mechanic.... anyhow all help is appreciated and color pictures clarify a ton!

If youre not sure what a term means (like "t-stat housing" aka thermostat housing) then youre best off asking for clarification, rather than assume we mean "t drain handle".
This thread has some good pictures on the winterization process. |

The only problem I have doing this is the hose wants to kink & stop the flow of AF. I really should get a second long hose to remedy this. So far, I have just kept a towel handy to sop up the spills.

Chris, You unclamp at the "T"stat housing and swivel the hose to the up position! Am I missing something? I'm shocked!! you are one of the most "mechanically inclined" members here!! |

TRbenj, Thank you!!! This clarified everything. I was able to easily locate it and put some pink RV type AF in tonight just before it got dark and a burly cold snap is coming through Ca.
I still have to get it to the marine shop to replace the starter relay and do a few other things. So they will just need to hook the hose up to start it as needed then I can repeat the process of draining the motor and filing with 2 gallons of AF. At least I know how now!! Thank you all again!!! |

Pete, no need to unclamp and swivel anything- that isnt a molded hose. If a non-reinforced hose is installed there, I can see how it may kink. All of mine are reinforced and do not have this issue. |

Tim, I agree but a non-reinforced hose will take a "set" to the curve after time so swiveling it up will help with the kink problem. |
