Newt sure seems to be tapping into the conservative, "make government smaller" sentiment thats out there. Sure he has baggage. Which of them don't?
He is my new ABO Candidate (Anybody But Obama) candidate! I think the Republican primary will come down to Newt and Romney. And, the fact that Newt is tied with Romney in New Hampshire really says something. New Hampshire is in Romney's backyard. Its the countries desire to have a true conservative in the race.... at least according to Fox News |

Why are the democrates so in picking the republican nominee? They really want Romney, Why?
As for the OWS.... The fact that Obama, Pelosi, and the like are in favor of them we at least know it is the democrats counter part to the Tea Party. As for Newt, He doesn't have any baggage we haven't seen before and most is old news and done. He did get much done to which Clinton gets credit for and can work with both sides, Something Obama can't and usually refuses to do. He is definately a bigger threat for the Dems. |

I am upset that a former police chief would wear a uniform to the protest. I remember at my former paramedic job there was a page of rules in our employee manual about wearing the uniform. It specifically prohibited former employees from doing so, It also wasn't allowed off duty, when you where the uniform it means you are representing that organization. Wearing a uniform indicates an allegiance to a group, it should be worn proudly. With your military background imagine how you would feel showing up for battle and seeing some disgruntled former military officer lined up in your sites with a bunch of terrorists in Afghanistan wearing your uniform. It is shameful that a former police chief would go out of his way to offend rather than support those that he expected and demanded loyalty from during his career. It is also shameful to compare the tea party and the "occupy" groups in the same breath. The Tea Party has rally's to support our nations constitution. The Tea Party hires sanitation and security, they pull permits, they are responsible people exercising their right to assemble in a responsible way. The Occupy crowd is out protesting because they want to have re-distributed to them what they have not earned. The Occupy crowd has, as a stated goal, the desire to disrupt the activities of US citizens, and act in civil disobedience. What does disobedience mean to you? As far as the guise of cleaning a park,, I saw the photos of the conditions in the park, and I cannot believe from a public health and safety standpoint they let things go that long. That park is private property, anyone that is harmed there can go back after the owners for conditions that they knowingly allow to persist. We also have your precious government nanny agencies which heve been charged with overseeing and protecting populations health and well being. In New York alone there has been public nudity, urination, defecation, masturbation, people going days to weeks without bathing, drug use/ used needles left on the ground, garbage piled at the sites, rock throwing, access to business and streets blocked, occupancy limits exceeded, antisemitic chants, threats of violence, harassment, rapes, assaults. The right to assemble does not mean the right to do whatever you want. I can speak proudly of the way the tea party has represented itself, It takes a pretty warped perspective to do the same with the occupy crowd. |

Let's look at the unbiased poll conducted by Fox News then: FOX asked its visitors: What do you think the tea party movement is about? Of the nearly quarter million votes cast, the overwhelming majority of the respondents (80 percent) clicked on the choice entitled: "Fruitless mix of racism, conspiracy theories." Only 13 percent chose: "Small government and fiscal responsibility," while five percent selected: "Voicing outrage at out-of-touch politicians." The remaining two percent split their votes between: "Exposing Democrats' Socialist agenda" and "Other." And this is the FOX News web site! Of course, it's not a scientific poll and they clearly mention that on their site. |

Yeah, really, that is so interesting. Have you not spent 10 minutes trying to figure out the movement? Not even to know WHAT OWS is about? Lets see, a bunch of thugs get together in many cities across America, at the same time, with the same message, that you somehow cannot see or care to find out about? Why are you posting here about OWS? I suppose you did not see they arrested the former Chief of Police from Philly in the protests. He is retired at 74, and he was wearing his uniform. That, if you really are a tea partier who proclaims the Constitution, should really upset you. Here, US citizens are being arrested on the guise of cleaning a park. Yikes, I thought we had problems in this country. Whew, what a relief, I can forget about those jobs bills and healthcare for awhile. |

John B....You couldn't give me a free copy of the NYT to line my bird's cage! You couldn't have quoted two, more "unbiased", "reliable" sources of news. Pillars of the Lame Stream Media. Let me guess...the poll was heavily skewed Democrat??

Maybe the Tea Party isn't out "occupying" everyday, but, I would submit to you that the Tea Party movement is very much alive and well in the way that most Americans have adopted their philosphy as a core belief. I feel you are very much misinformed as to the level of support for the Tea Party. A CBS News/New York Times poll in September 2011, showed 19% of respondents supported the movement, 63% did not, and 16% said they did not know. Last I checked the term MOST generally means more than 50%. It is not a requirement that you stand with the 63% majority who do not support it however. One other observation. You say you will be the first in line to vote conservative. It is possible you will be, even if you are at the back of the voting line! |

Isn't it clearly apparent that OWS is just a bunch of thugs that want a......??? What the heck do they want? They sure don't have a message....or leader....or demand. Just a bunch of anarchists that like to keep productive people from getting anything done.
Maybe the Tea Party isn't out "occupying" everyday, but, I would submit to you that the Tea Party movement is very much alive and well in the way that most Americans have adopted their philosphy as a core belief. I consider myself very much aligned with the Tea Party, but, I am not out carrying signs and protesting every day. I am just too busy working. But, you can bet your last dollar when it comes time to vote, I will be the first one in line to vote conservative, and remove Obama from office. I think there are many millions like me. Call us the silent majority!! |

Who can REALLY understand Newt's position? I sure cannot keep up with his flip-flopping. Are you even sure if he is really running, or simply promoting a book or movie. Do you think the majority really thinks like newt/romney/cain/etc, etc? I bet OWS will have a say. OWS is the answer to the tea party, but it won't fade like the tea party has. How come OWS hasn't been brought up here yet? Go ahead and answer that. |

Don't forget Biden was tired. He had just been through all 57 or 58 states with Obama, The guy in the wheelchair was a republican. As for cain he thought they asked about Lydia and he didn't know any Lydia. Perry had just stepped into something (Branch & water). Might as well let the historian Bachman to join in.

I would love to watch Obama debate Newt. It will be interesting to see how Obama seeks to control the debate forum to find some type of home field advantage. I think Newt would mop the floor with him regardless. Even Better would be a debate between Newt and Biden.

Newt will rise to the top. Remeber, he worked with the king of them all, Reagan, and the BEST democrat ever in Bill clinton. Cain will fall because of the liberal media, Romney does not have the experience like Newt and he likes goverment healthcare. My buddy Perry cant remeber uuuummmm oh I forgot...
Root for Newt, he will make Obama look AWFUL in the final run. My ballot is for Newt. |

Newt's baggage is nothing new, just being reintroduced. Same with Fanny, not a scandal. he advised them, they didn't take the advise. His company got millions, not necessarily all to him. He didn't register as a lobbyist. Fanny says he was not a lobbyist, No scandal. He scares the democrats because he will be hard to run against. Newts pluses are the Clinton years which all democrats boast of. Those years were ideas started by Newt that Clinton got credit for and the ability to work both sides to get things passed. Obama with his anti republican retoric is going to discourage independents.

Eric it is actually 2500 Marines to be stationed in Darwin. Darwin is very close to Indonesia it was bombed by the Japanese in WWII. A US ship was sunk in Darwin harbour during one of these bombing raids. |

Watch the media now that newt is leading in the polls, suddenly Cains issues will go away, but they will relentlessly pursue Newt. Obama of course will continue to get his free ride.
Of course we hear very little on this. Recent emails suggest that politics did play a role in administration decisions regarding its energy loan guarantee programs. But beyond the timing of political announcements, the Solyndra investigation has churned up questions about the White House's overall strategy of doling out taxpayer money. The rolls of green energy subsidies show that beyond a few headline-grabbing cases, several well-connected Democrats obtained taxpayer assistance for environmentally friendly projects. Among the recipients are: -- Solyndra, which received $535 million in loan guarantees and whose chief investor was the George Kaiser Family Foundation. George Kaiser was an Obama campaign bundler. -- Brightsource Energy, which received $1.6 billion and whose senior adviser is Robert Kennedy, Jr., an early Obama backer; -- Solar Reserve, which got a $737 million loan, and whose major investor is a company run by Michael Froman, who was a deputy assistant to the president. Froman bundled up to $500,000 for the president's 2008 campaign; -- Granite Reliable Wind Generation, which received a $168.9 million loan. The company's majority owner is a firm formerly led by Nancy Ann DeParle, now a White House deputy chief of staff and former head of the president's health care communications team during the reform debate; and -- Abound Solar, which received a loan guarantee worth $400 million. A key investor is billionaire heiress Pat Stryker, who gave $87,000 to Obama's inauguration committee, and hundreds of thousands more to Democratic causes. Peter Schweizer, author of the book, "Throw Them All Out," wrote that at least 10 members of Obama's finance committee and more than a dozen of his campaign bundlers took money from administration loan programs. Schweizer told Fox News that he believes that many of those who were chosen to receive loan guarantees, were picked almost solely for their success in raising money for the Obama campaign. Obama used the alternative energy program as an opportunity to make his campaign contributors "even more wealthy than they are," he said. "This is a payoff to people who are your political backers and supporters. And this is really a wealth transfer from middle class taxpayers to billionaires," Schweizer said, adding that about 75 percent of the loans and grants doled out by the federal government has gone to "Obama-connected companies" even though the acceptance rate in the program is less than 10 percent. This is our money, and despite Barracks class warfare rhetoric he is giving it away to wealthy donors. Why should anyone accept the argument for higher taxes when this is what our government does with them? |

I don't think Newt will have any long term issues with the Freddie & Fannie consulting, It amounts to about 100,000 grand over a ten+ year period, which is not outrageous for a consultant. and the organisations are seen as democratically run, so why did they hire him if it was so wrong? During the same time period the head of Fannie made about 9 million dollars. Tens of millions in bonuses were given out this year alone while the two organizations are requiring bailouts. It will be Hard to go after Newt without light being shed on the rest.

Looks like Newt is now facing a bit of a problem, with his association with Fannie and Fready. Think he can get through this?
Start looking at Romney as your "dear leader", it is coming. Newt, while good at debates and public speaking, he h=really does have too much baggage. Do you remember he had some ethics issues in 95? I do think Newt is just doing the book signing tour. Imagine if he were president. What would become of the 15ish and 10ish movies he has made. Will they all become the required reading material to prove US citizenship? Looks like many republicans are not looking at the damage the debates and the multitude of candidates is doing to the republicans image. |

Appears Barrack wants out, not only does he think the US has 57 states, but apparently now Hawaii is not one of them, it is part of Asia. Does this reopen the whole birth-er argument?
