Man I could really use some Correct Craft action right about now! Sounds like there might be some places to sleep for party crashers? Marty are all southbound vehicles full?

The hype about this event gets larger every year, rosco glad you could add us to your GOTTA DO LIST........

As the date draws nearer we will start a new thread on the Saturday nite event . Some how last year we had barely enough food to feed the overflow. We cooked 50 lbs. of fries alone, thanks BJ for the cool frier he provided.Head count was around 75 last year.

Alicia and I are officially on the fence as well, I'd even say leaning towards the good side.

We'll more than likely come down Tuesday and stay through the next week as I've got some work in Orlando starting Monday morning. (can you say free plane ticket?!)

SJRR 2012 and the river REALLY hasn't been truly run in the 3 years I have been going. Hmmmmm I'm thinking.....

I have talked to the Park Ranger there , they have 40 slips available, first come first serve basis. He offered his assistance in any way if we ran out of places to moore 30 boats. There is ample area there . Plus there is Blue Springs three miles further south, another area to be checked for a short stop over???
It appears to be about 20 miles of cool curves and short bast zones to break up the drive down. There are a few no wake zones but these are few and far between. The total ride time from Parramores to Hontoon is under one hour. There is a marina there for fuel if needed, I will top off my gas hog for sure.
Looks like we will do a RECON MISSON on Friday AM to get a first hand look at our destination,Who is in with us, Ha Ha...

../..That sounds almost like a plan

There is a great lake to ski on just around the corner from Hontoon Landing called Lake Beresford. Stacey & I stayed at a house for Labor Day last year on that lake and we loved it. I think Hontoon Island is a great idea Tim. There's a ton of stuff to do right around that area.

Edit: I know this should go in the classified area but I'd rather sell to a SJRR attendee. I have a Fly High aluminum X-Pole ($200) and a Skylon Sky Rack ($175) that are both in excellent shape that I can bring to sell if anyone is interested. Also have a older barefoot boom (unsure of brand) w/single bow clip cable I will sell for $75-.

Thanks Brett for the "Johnny on the spot" info , I see this being the best yet SJRR event. If of intrest, Google, Blue Springs State Park for the things to do list there as well.It is a short drive South from Hontoon Island, so we will check it out as well.

Well in keeping with SJRR protocall that the River Rats set up a few years ago we still really have no game plan for the weekend per say.

Only thing we do have a plan for is

Dinner @ Buck N' Kat's Friday night so nobody has to leave the campground unless they want too.

Saturday.. a true River Run to Hontoon Island.

Saturday Night back at Parramores for Mr. Ralphs presentation and all the help needed to throw dinner together as a group effort.

Other than that..it's all the boating, skiing, sunning, eating, meeting new friends, old friends, and drinking a beer or two with the best Boatniks you could ask for and that you can stand for 4-5 days. What's not to like about it?

Think about it for a sec... 30+ Correct Craft boats running the river on Sat at one time will scare the alligators away for miles and the locals will think aramagedon has arrived.

Plan...maybe just a few but in the big scheme of the weekend. Not really

Brett, another reason this has been suggested as a raft up point is so that we can use Lake Beresford for driving each others boats, skiing behind each others boats, and being able to take advantage of the 2012 boats that the Nautiques of Orlando usually provides for us to demo for the day. They have provided Demos for use to use the last 2 years but I don't think anyone took advantage of it for logistics reasons. Jody brought his 200 last year which I'm sure he would have pulled anyone who wanted a run. Rafting up in the Silver Glenn is a time consuming, pain in the butt event and this way you can easily untie, ride, drive, demo and raft up easily with the floatilla when your done. Plus having a gallery to ski past could make for some 2013 Calendar photo ops.

Just need some time period swimwear, and skis for a photoshoot. The boats will already be there.

Reid...time to bust out that James Bond 60's era pre speedo out of the closet and go for a ski run behind the Skylark.

That Lake Beresford is a decent BIG ski lake, not much there except for gators a few houses. Beware lots of no wake zones down there and its 17 miles from SR40 bridge to SR 44 bridge and its a few miles past that. I've driven it on a full moon night but I wouldn't recommend it, after losing track of time. I also recommend you examine to map beacuse you can take a wrong turn on the river in that area , their is a couple bends that aren't marked well. Hoonton island is a good fishing spot, i always see people on the bank. I think they do pontoon tours out of there...its a bit further down to blue springs, its pretty much forbidden to go in there with a boat due to manatees probably will still be in there.

All, for anyone that is still on the fence about coming to SJRR but may be put off by the fact that Parramore's is full, there are still many riverfront cabins that are for rent right in the Astor area which is still an option for you. Here's a link for an example. http://www.vrbo.com/307674

VRBO is a great source and if you type Astor in the search bar you will find plenty of options at affordable prices. Astor is a 5 minute boat ride to Parramore's.

Whose Skylark???

Bad news guys Might can't make the trip. Parts selling is slow- hours have been cut- 28-30 hrs tops. Company truck has been taken away---Insurance deal. Been tapping the petty cash fund and savings hard the past month.

Guess I might need a SJRR Fund to take up to make it

Marty, sent ya an email.

Well we're officially in for the fun! Reid was kind enough to push us over the fence by securing a cabin for us not to far from the camp site and is crazy enough to offer Alicia and I a rig to pull down with his caravan!!

Can't wait to see everyone in March!

Jim, don't count yourself out yet. It ain't March yet and you may just have to go the poor mans route if you can talk Robyn into sleeping in a tent. Plenty of boats there to catch a ride in and I'm headed down anyway so you guys got a way to get there and back. Guessing we need to talk.

Chris, so pleased that you are off the fence. We all are hurting with the OBummer economy, but if there is a need we will find a way to scratch that boating itch.

        I will make a blanket statement here;

If you can make it to Parramores, we will find you a place to lay your head, and a boat to ride in. Do not let pride nor the shortage of funds deny all us the pleasures of your attendance.Give me a call. we will work it out.....Billy/Karen
