Keith are you having the "Hamstring Tendon" method or the "Patella tendon".
This shows how it all works. Hamstring Tendon |

Keith,
ACL surgery and rehab is a snap. Much easier than any shoulder problems. Work hard and you will be back soon. |

Like we already didn't know that. It's hard to keep a good man down. Really sux to hear about the knee and crappy time of the year for it to go but great news on the newer boat. Praying for a speedy recovery and hope you be able to at least get in and enjoy the new boat with the family. She's pretty! |

Thanks for all the kinds words everyone. Pre-operation physical therapy started last night. Goal being to get the knee healthy and build muscle strength as much as possible before I go into surgery. Should help speed up recovery on the other end.
I am very dedicated to getting back as soon as possible. -Keith |

Wow Keith, I feel the pain. Broke my foot last May, I was out 8 weeks, can't imagine the 6 to 9 months. At least with the left leg, it will make driving that new Sport much easier (Congrats)! Hoping for a speedier then expected recovery!

Keith, sorry to hear, but what you were able to do on that damaged knee is a testament to your resiliency, Take it slow and get better.

Keith, good luck with your surgery. Unbelievable how such a bad injury went undetected at first. Do you think the skiing did additional demage? I'm looking forward to hearing your progress. Great looking Sport!

Keith, as one who has had multiple knee surgeies (4 left 3 right) and now a canidate for both to be replaced I suggest you talk to your ortho about a knee brace. Innovaton Sports makes one (CTi2)custom fit to your leg, I used one skiing for years. The even make a rod that goes to a ski boot. At the time I received mine it waa covered by insurance. It allowed flexability, although it is cumbersome but prevents the twist and hyperextension.

Bad news with summer so close. If you can still exercise prior to surgery do so as it will aid in the recovery time.
Keith you will love the Sport they are a great all round family boat. |

yikes. Used the 'man cure' huh. Skied 6 more times then figured it was bad.
I don't need to say it but...rehab is the key to gettin' back to where you wanna be. Nice color combo...exactly the same as our '93 Ski. john |

Jan 5 exploded my hamstring on a 43mph barefoot fall, bloody bruise from butt to below the knee, 6-12 month recovery, however it got better pretty quick- I've been footin once already and it felt pretty good, I'm just easing back in.
Hopefully you will have a speedy and complete recovery. And great color combo on that new to you boat. |

I just hope the surgery goes well and the PT works as it should, regardless of the time it actually takes.

Sorry to hear that Keith. A buddy of mine here at work just had his replaced last week. It has placed him out of work for at least six weeks, but he is starting to get around some.
Hope your recovery goes well!! Also thanks for putting this site together, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It has complicated my procrastination of house-hold projects, except the ones that involve the boat. But hey at least there is a wealth of knowledge here to help. Allen |

Hope your surgery goes well and your rehab too. just don't force it and take your time to recover fully... |

Sorry to here that Keith. Like the others have said, follow your rehab. Make sure you choose your physical therapist wisely. I've had good and bad. 10 years ago, while snow skiing, I completely tore my ACL (with most of the meniscus torn up). I had a cadaver graft in mid-April. I was able to ski/foot without issue in August with the help of a fantastic PT. She worked me hard. Took up snowboarding that winter.
Hopefully your doctor is giving you worse case scenario. (Doctors tend to do that) |

Congrats on the new boat Keith!
Sorry to hear about the injury, at least you'll be able to spend time with your kids and help with their skiing. My friend had a similar injury and the rehab really makes the recovery. He said it could be pretty tough at times but it was well worth it. |
