I agree. Since Bill Yeargan showed up at the SJRR, maybe he's getting "tuned" into all the good things here on CCfan? Maybe it's time again to ask if we can get access to the old records? It sure would be great if we could scan them and get them in the ref section. Tim, was it you that offered to do do this at one time but then were shot down access to the old file room? |

Back to tank liners... A friend used to do tank liners at his radiator shop. For rust removal he would fill the tank with solution of muriatic acid and water. (careful, this is nasty). He then lined the tank with Red-Kote. You can buy that at O'reillys .

Here's a few pictures of the test run. Need to figure out cooling issues. A buddy of mine thought Schlitz beer would be "period correct."

Good to see it on the water where it belongs.

Bill, that is looking beautiful! We need to see a video.
What's the hole in the transom above and to the right of the "G"? That's a really steep launch ramp. |

The hole is where the blower vents out. Thanks for the compliments. The ramp is kind of steep but the road is close to the water and we did not have any more room than that. It generally works pretty well though. |

That's a serious head-turner of a boat, and sounds great. You mentioned cooling issues, usually not a problem on a raw water cooled boat. Any clues?

Impellers and the back side of the pump that holds the shaft needed a 5/8 bushing machined into it. To get by till new impellers arrive I just flipped them. They were all there but appeared to be "set" and flat. Once flipped they pumped pretty well. Still am going to put in new ones when they get here. |

Yes, definitely replace them soon. I think reversing them increases the likelihood of shearing off an ear of the impeller.

Is there a way to check sending units? Other than replacing? The one on the water jacket makes the temp guage work but I can't say the same for the one on the front housing of the motor where the water goes in. They are both tied to the same wire so do they work in tandem? I think I am only getting the reading from the one as the engine never feels hot but the temp guage shows 200+.
Thanks |

The new impellers are on the way. I can see your point about shearing. I had a hour to spare so I thought I would give it a try. ![]() |

Sorry I missed this one Pete. Yes it was me... Ya know, I wished I would have thought to ask him that as I was walking back with him to his car after dinner that night. I did tell him that it was really cool to see a more relaxed Bill than a corporate Bill. Told him that it would be great if he could come out next year to the River Run as Bill Yeargin Correct Craft owner instead of the Corporate one. He said he'd really like to be able to do that sometime. Told him I hoped to see him at the Masters Tournament in May so maybe I'll ask for a favor then. I'd tell him several CCFans would volunteer to help sort it just to get a look at OLD files and prints of anything over ten years or whatever. Couldn't hurt. |

So this is what happens when my wife gets together with her best friend and has two small margarita's. I asked her to video the first ski run behind the Marauder and she thought they should add commentary. Lesson learned here......one marg is enough for both of these women!!

Nice video Bill, good to see her being put to use! Have you got any top speed numbers? Are you close to WOT on that barefoot run?
I like the commentary, pretty funny. Seeing this video, I went back and re-read the whole thread, all 9 pages. Congrats on getting a beautiful boat back on the water. |

I did try to check speed. Gps was 36 but the carb needs a little adjustment yet, i really have to feather the throttle so as to not flood it. Prop is a used 13x13 and not perfect and the tach is not working yet either so I dont know rpm. Wow does it take power to turn the hull at speed. If you noticed I had to sit for a bit while going around the corner. So far it has been a big hit with everyone. Nostalgia-----a powerful conversation tool. Good times. |

From Bruce's comments it sounds like you've got room for improvement, should get over 40 mph anyway. Until you have a tach it will be hard to figure anything out. Do you have a tach on your timing light, can just leave it hooked up for a run?
Yes, lot's of speed gets scrubbed off in hard high speed turns! |

Never used the light to time it. Maybe I should but it sure starts good and doesn't miss. I will hook one up for rpms as I realize that is important info for propping and not blowing up the motor.

When I read "This is what happens when your wife and best friend". Then I thought to myself "OH NO !!!"
Because my wife and friend Blew-Up my 260 Interceptor. (not an actual blow-up, cracked cylinder) I kinda see your point about the girls commentary. They seemed to have totally forgot about poor ol' Bill way back there on the end of a rope with no shoes on. Cool video! |

Before you mess with the carb, put a light on it and set the timing!!! Fine tuning would need to be redone after a timing change... and your current symptoms could easily be timing related. |
