Mike at BI told me to always use the straight boom if you can. I got a single countour off of craig's list. It is actually harder to move up and down through the height adjuster when compared to a straight boom. It has to do with the leverage. The single countour works great otherwise on my 80.

Thanks for all of yuor guys input, Previous owner had the sheathing on the cables all boogered up. finally got the seathing out and adjusted. My skiers are pretty small heaviest ways about 65lbs. And I want to be able to see them. If I do happen to turn sharp I always go left so the boom will not drag, and our dock is on the passenger side when I pull In so multiple reasons for going out the starboard. Who knows I may get bored driving and need to step out for a minute.

Mike suggested I have the straight boom as well. He promised a free exchange if I did not like it. I was hoping to out the starboard side, but it would not with the driver seat back. Oh well, never exchanged it and I'm out the port. Keeps me drier anyways.

I noticed a lot of guys have the curved booms. When I went to the BI web site it said that for my '95 ski I should use the straight boom being that the windshield doesn’t extend past the ski pylon.
It looks like the curve one gives more adjustability. What do you guys suggest?

I put mine out the drivers side for two reasons.....driver can easily talk to skier and our lake is short so we ski around the corners and going with it on the inside the pull would be too slow. Both sides work.

Then tension and cables can be adjusted in the drive way with a slight forward direction. as far as up and down that can be adjusted on the water. Each skier will vary in boom height. The main section should curve up to the gunnel. I "Rhino-Lined" the inside of my boom clamp. This allows it to slide up and down easily and will not scratch the pylon. If there is a clearance issue between the "dog house" and the clamp, try flipping the main section. It will however get the end of the boom up there which I like anyways, you or your skier may not.

Installing boom for first time not sure on correct heights and which way the curve should be. It seems to me the boom should ride a little high and the weight of the skier will pull it down and seems the cables should need a little pressure to hook on the tow ring.
