About 4 years ago I replaced the bearings on my trailer. Now I'm thinking about getting some new hubs and using the old ones as backups on the road. We take a few long distance (4 hour) trips a year and now that we will have babies with us, I want to be prepared for whatever.
Any thoughts on type or brands to get? Quality wise? My first thought is to go to Northern Tool and pick some up but don't know how reliable theirs would be. There's also etrailer.com. Right now I have bearing buddies, what about this Ultra Pack type hub where it pushes the old grease out from behind? hubs Any opinions? Thanks! |

I think that hubs are hubs and bearings are bearings. Just have to stay on top of it with maintenance with with proper grease. Thats my opinion

While I disagree that bearings are bearings, I would probably agree for the most part that hubs are hubs. The hub simply holds the races and the seal. All the interaction is between the races, bearings, and spindle.

Do they make different types of bearings for hubs? If they don't then I would go with a good brand like NAPA

Did someone tell you all bearings are the same? I agree with Craig. You can get a cheap "knock off" from China and then get a good quality for twice the price although the good ones still may not be made here in the states!! Napa (or any auto supply) will get any quality you want but will suggest the better ones. |

Yep-- Those Ultra Pak Hubs are the way to go. Put a pair on the #2 under the Skylark.

x2 Ultra Pack ~ I didn't know what they were called but my trailer has them. I greased them and then pulled one down to inspect / best thing since sliced bread.
