Hello all!
I have a 2004 216 TE with the 330 Excalibur engine. I've got around 175 hours on it. I bought the boat new and have done regular fluid replacements, etc but I've never changed the spark plugs. It runs fine but they are 8 years old now and I do like to keep up the maintenance. What are the recomended spark plug replacement intervals? Any help would be great. |

The plugs may be fine ignition wise, but the threads may start to weld themselves to the head.
I would replace them now & put some anti-seize on the threads while you are at it. |

threads are good. I pull them twice a year. and yes, the plugs themselves look pretty good, no fouling but dang they are just old LOL. I think I'm just going to throw some new NGK Iridium IX plugs in it and go another 8 years :)

Doesn't matter how many years old they are it's the amount of hours on them. If the insulators and electrodes still look good as compared to new ones, run'em. If the originals lasted this long and ran well why pay the extra money for the NGK's??
Use the saved money in the gas tank and have more fun.

Well, I figured that a little maintence is always good. They cost me $56 for all eight. Thats only about a half a tank of gas, so it didnt cost me too much fun. LOL!
I thought it idled and ran pretty good with the old plugs but after changing them it REALY purrrs like a kitten now! Throttle response is also much crisper and more snappy. New plugs, fresh oil, new impeller... I cant wait till next weekend! |
