****EDIT******* Just bumping up this old thread instead of creating a new one... Go to the end of the thread..... July 10, 2013

Okay Lanier/Atlanta area Fans. Several of you that I've talked to have said "Hey, we need to get together on Lanier soon." Well, soon is long past so lets do it instead of talking about it. I say lets plan on the weekend of the July 20th. I'm off F,S,S so any day would work for me or a combination there of. Pipe up, clean em' up, raft em' up and let's do some skiing together!

Tim, would love to get together. But, we are at North Myrtle Beach the week of the 20th for Flamingo Fling XXVII....our annual beach trip with 35 of our closest friends!
And yes, we look forward to seeing you and all the CCFans on Lanier very soon.

Bumping this one up as we are gonna try it again for this weekend. I'm headed up on Friday morning to hang with Nautiquehunter for a couple days and Jimsport93 said he and the Mrs. are in for Sat. Anyone else care to join us?

I'd like to get out on Lanier as well, haven't been there this year so far. Was planning to go to Carter's this weekend, but Lanier is good too. I don't know the lake at all, so I'd probably have to meet someone who does at a ramp.

That I'm not sure of. Jim and Mike know the lake better than I and they usually put in at Deer Park or another ramp that I can't remember. Hopefully they will chime in and make suggestions as to what ramp or a rally point on the water at a certain time (like we did last fall) and parade over to a place where there may be good water to play on. Jim, Mike?

I usually put in at Charleston Park on the Cumming side of the lake. Off exit 17/Hwy 306 off 400, turn right, then turn right again on Brown's Bridge road. Charleston Park is about a mile and a half on the right. Deep water ramp with a good dock (especially with the water down). We can ski in Six Mile Creek or cruise down to Young Deer Creek (both on the Cumming side). Got to hit it early for good water. Mike and Gail may want to hit Shoal Creek which is on the Buford side. I will put in at Charleston Park and head across to Shoal Creek if need be.

Picking up my old (new to me) 1986 2001 Nautique. First boat I have owned in years. Should have it out on Lanier this weekend. Will probably launch it from Port Royale. We have a house boat and pontoon there so seems like a good place to drop it in the water.

Im all for firing up the smoker and throwing on some Chicken for the day on Sat. Greg is gonna let us use his place for the day which means a dock to hang out on. SAFE place to tie up while you go for a drive/run in another members boat, a boat ramp just around the corner, and the smoothest water we will find for Lanier on a Sat. Heck Ya I like it!

I'm looking forward to a few pulls where I don't even have to think about the driver. And I want to pile the bfn full and see if we can find the old wet foam wake.

Someone bring a shot ski and I'll dust off the vew-do board.

I'm game for saturday morning. What ramp do you recommend we put in at, Greg?

What time on saturday? I'm all for getting out skiing at first light, even if it means leaving my house at 5am.

Is Saturday up here approved? We need to hear from a few more folks.

On the other hand, I probably won't drive to the south end 2 days in a row, so we could ride. Little River Park is the ramp you want, and I'm good with daybreak.

Shoot me a PM.

Saturday at Greg's sounds good to me. I couldn't believe how quiet it was up there last year on a Saturday afternoon.

I looked back at this and didn't like how it sounded...it's only because I don't have a bimini.

Welcome aboard Philip! Shoot me a PM and we'll swap #'s. I used to put mine on the main board, but...

I'm guessing you know your way around the lake?

Had to look that up. I've always called it Lanmar; didn't know there was another entity there. Depending on schedules, I'm going right by there in the morning.

Greg's place sounds good to me for Saturday.
Greg, I don't get up there too much. Is the little river ramp and dock ok with the lake being down?
Maybe, just maybe, might be able to get out there on Friday afternoon on the south end. Will have to see how it goes.

I launch out of Burton Mill its just south of Holiday Marine nothing special but close to home. With the water down Shoal Creek will be cramped with more than a few boats moving. Young Deer is a great place just the other side of Lanier Island. I have a full tank of $3.09 a gallon SC gas and will go where ever the CCs are.

Little river is good. The short ramp is closed and has a boat breaking sign welded in place. It has to get pretty low to close the long ramp.

What time are folks starting tomorrow?

Jeff,

Come on up and bring the Mrs. I count 7 boats so far for Saturday so there are plenty of empty seats to go around. You've got my number so give a call if you're coming.

I've never seen one of these signs. What does the broken up boat signify? Only on Lanier do boats break up?

The Mrs. might be busy but I'd like to join in, thanks. Guess I'd just need Buffalo address and best time to be there.

Greg,

The rest of my riding crew really wants to stick with our original plan of camping out at Carters all weekend. So I'm out, this time. Something about how they'd already paid for the campsite and bought food. Sorry guys, I'll have to meet you all next time.

I mentioned it because it's been replaced more than once in the past. It's a 4" box tube welded in place.
