Yea, the Republicans know how to make a prop and photograph it. I don't see it in the context of any delegates.

John here is a link to an Atlantic article about the buttons you claim are "Made up" and other gear at the convention.

link

Did you read your own link?
"This button doesn't appear to be official merchandise, but a street vendor was hawking it at CarolinaFest, an outdoor Labor Day celebration in downtown Charlotte".
A street vendor? Really, a street vendor, seriously!

John, Hardock only asked if it was racist. Neither of us suggested an origin. You attributed it to being a republican Prop. I offered the story documenting it as being readily available to the convention crowd. Do you have evidence that it was a staged Photo to back up the claim you made?

Yeah, he only asked IF it was racist?    That is not how I read the comment he originally posted.
However, that is a racist pin in my opinion, and just because it references Obama, I don't think it is ok. I'd guess whomever made it knew exactly what they were wanted to accomplish, and it seems like it worked.

Shall Jon and I spend a few minutes with Google to show the other side of the racial coin? No.   Because if you refuse to admit your party has produced racist material, well, I won't be able to help you see it. Just need to do some research on your own. KKK, skinheads, hammerskins, aryan nations, etc., all have roots in the republican party.

So if I take you at what you wrote.

You'll never agree a a republican could do such a thing, but a democrat will?

But even if a republican did, it'd be ok since you agree with them.

If I remember correctly, you are also the guy that got his hand smacked here on the site a few months back when you basically compared Conservatives to Hitler. You disappeared from the conversation for awhile.

It's one thing to have a good discussion on here, and I enjoy it more than anybody, but, you send me over the top with your comparisons, and linking the conservative movement to crazy idiots who go around shooting people, especially when I show you that its the Libs who are the ones connected to shootings BASED ON IDEOLOGICAL BELIEFS.

Just be careful what you say and the comparisons you make. Sorry for the IDIOT comment, but come on man......!

Hardock,

Here is a quote from the link you posted.

“We don’t know enough about him or his circumstances to determine what his connection is to this group or his mental state, or what he was doing or thinking of doing,” McJunkin said. “So we’re going to try to sort this all out, pull the evidence together, do all the interviews we can.”

Great job!

Fine.

But I did leave for a bit, not for the reasons you stated.   I left because someone said I'd cut and run or something, that stuff trips a switch in my head that I sometimes cannot reset easily.

Both of the cases we are talking about are wrong, and I am sure there will always be some debate about the driving forces, until/if we desire to hear from the shooters.

I gotta say though, have you considered all the pro-life abortion violence, and the responsible parties political affiliation?

Just to show how far some "crazy" will take a little political advertisement. This is Sarah Palins ad, notice the target on Gabby Giffords name. True the others were not shot, but there wasn't a Jared Laughner in all those cities.

We as voters need to get this under control.

And the Democrats cry for civility, and yet the President and the lame stream media sit on their hands when Bill Maher and David Letterman make duragitory comments about Sarah Palin and her family. What about right there in Madison when the protesters dumped beer on the heads of and blasted air horns in peaceful conservatives ears.

I also didn't hear anything of substance when the crazed shooter went after the Family Research Council folks. If that would have been a Conservative that did that, oh my god, we would never hear the end of it.

Careful there One Wheeler, your hypocrisy is showing

By the way, I don't condone any violence, but, you have to admit that much of it comes from the left.

Okay, I am gonna take your advice and go drink a few beers up at the lake today.

Here's an example of respect for life?
Only in the religious right's twisted minds could this make sense.
South Dakota lawmakers are considering a bill that could make it legal in many cases to kill doctors who perform abortions.
House Bill 1171, passed out of the House Judiciary committee on a 9-3 vote and is expected to face a floor vote in the GOP-dominated House before the current legislative session adjourns.
The bill expands the definition of justifiable homicide, and is sponsored by state Rep. Phil Jensen and cosponsored by 22 other state representatives and four state senators.

HB 1171 adds language to the current criminal code making a homicide permissible if committed by a person "while resisting an attempt to harm" that person's unborn child or the unborn child of that person's spouse, partner, parent, or child.

The Bill in its entirety reads:

Section 1. That § 22-16-34 be amended to read as follows:

Section 2. That § 22-16-35 be amended to read as follows:
accomplished.
South Dakota's criminal code currently allows prosecutors to charge doctors who perform abortion with manslaughter for crimes that result in the death of fetuses.

The State legislature attempted to ban abortion outright twice. Voters overturned the ban at the polls in 2006 and 2008 by a 12-point margin both times.

Republican lawmakers have since been looking to limit access any other way possible.

"They seem to be taking an end run around that," state Sen. Angie Buhl, said. "They recognize that people don't want a ban, so they are trying to seek a de facto ban by making it essentially impossible to access abortion services."

John, when the democrats passed Obama care using reconciliation I warned that it was a bad deal and those type of tactics would be learned by republicans and come back to haunt the left. I did not hear much concern from the left at the time. I don't like to see the system abused. It was wrong then and now.

Although it is not an issue I spend a lot of energy on, I do have compassion for the frustrated that feel abortion is legalized murder, and can sympathize with their desire to end it using nearly any means, but not by breaking the law or violating the intent of the constitution. You can determine a persons conviction to principle when they stick to them even when they don' like a particular outcome.

Obama promised in Florida today that if we elect him he will slash the deficit. Can someone help me with the conversion? If he promised to cut it in half last time and it doubled, how much will it increase when he promises to slash it? I hate the new math. He also said we tried that and it did not work, But I missed the context, Was he talking about his own policies?

Just saw this on the Huffington Post (cough-cough, gag-gag) on my AOL news feed. Know how the whole birther thing is off-limits? If Mitt makes a little joke about it, the lame-stream media goes nuts. Why does Obama keep bringing it up?

ORLANDO, Fla. -- It's that birther thing again.

President Barack Obama was at an Orlando sports bar, snapping a University of Florida Gators' sign, sipping a pint and working a crowd when he walked up to a table with five children. One adult pointed to one of the boys, 7-year-old Andre Wupperman of Orlando, and informed the president that the boy was born in Hawaii, the president's native state.

Delighted, the president greeted the boy with a "shaka" sign, the pinky and thumb gesture typical of Hawaiian culture. The boy gestured back.

"You were born in Hawaii?" the president said. Then he asked teasingly: "You have a birth certificate?"

I see you are not very tolerant of my belief that there is no god.
What if I said I will chant a satanic verse for you? Isn't that the same idea? It goes against your beliefs. Of course wouldn't do that, because I don't believe in any of this spiritual stuff from any source, and I believe you would find it insulting. For anyone to say they will pray for me because their political views are different than mine seems very odd. If its just an expression like "that pie is to die for" than I understand, but that pretty much diminishes the value of prayer for "believers",don't you think?
By the way, there is as much compassion in my heart as anyone's. Just because I don't blindly believe in something for which not a scrap of evidence exists, but mountains of evidence refute, doesn't mean I am not tolerant. Tolerance is the basis of humanity.

I did not criticize your belief, just your calculated hurtful hate filled comment about an imaginary God. There are many appropriate was to express your none belief, while showing compassion, and that is not one of them, as the multiple post that followed it indicates.

There was another John, in the Bible, that persecuted Christians..... till he meet the risen Jesus on the side of a road. He went of to be kind of famous. Faith would be easy if that could happened to all of us.
For thousands of years men have felt the irresistible urge to go to sea, and many of them died. Things got better after they invented boats.

You're right, maybe I took it wrong. I just don't understand praying for someone because they prefer a different presidential candidate. I have friends with many beliefs and its never a problem with our friendship. I would hope that's true here as well. To those who become angry, I understand its just because you are passionate about what you believe in. I like to have discussions and arguments, but not alienate people who have more in common than they have differences. I like to think these arguments are because we all want what is best for all of us, or friends, family, and our future. I wouldn't visit this thread if I didn't like hearing your opinions and commenting. It exposes us to viewpoints we would otherwise not be privy to.

Sorry, it was not meant to be hurtful or mean. Please accept my apologies if you took it that way. I just really don't like to se religion injected into politics. Like our founders, I feel it has no place there.
