Classic conservative thinking.

Worry about the rent payment when your house is on fire.

Take your medicine.

It's a bad deal even for a progressive.

Seth, It is about ownership. If you cannot pay your mortgage you have nothing to protect from fire. How may people have burned down their house for the insurance money because they could no longer afford the payment?? Paying the bills comes first. Only the fire department can spend their days doing nothing but putting out fires, because that is what in fact pays their own mortgage. When you own you think about paying the morgage, preventing the fires, putting out the fires, and insuring against the loss from fire. Our problem is democrats think like renters (whats in it for me now), not like owners (How do I protect for my children this good thing that so many worked so hard to build for me).
For thousands of years men have felt the irresistible urge to go to sea, and many of them died. Things got better after they invented boats.

Well, I didn't realize the election was still going on?! Today in the mail we got a large slick mailer with a stern, serious looking President Obama front and center standing gaurd over the poor middle class. It came from "Priorties USA", a far left organization. I guess we'll be getting these things every time there is an important vote that the Republicans threaten not to toe the liberal line on.

Here is the funny part. The message read:

"THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN". "The American public supports President Obama's plan to responsibly reduce the deficit".

On the back it asks us to call our congressman for the fiscal cliff vote and support Obama's plan to responsibly cut the deficit, make millionaires/billionaires pay their fair share, and blah, blah, blah, blah!!!! Who they crappin'??

What a JOKE!! These organizations count on a "low information" voters to keep the liberal agenda going.

Obama and deficit reduction should never be used in the same sentence!!

I don't think so. He's been going since Clinton and hasn't got so much to show for it besides his G-5. I do think he brings a lot of truths to his audience that would go otherwise unreported. The sad part of that is only about 15% of radio listeners listen to talk/news. The rest are gov't educated and are happy to stay that way. I'm gov't educated but don't choose to stay that way.

So, the first folks are finding the Obama truth in their paychecks. The folks getting paid bi-weekly will find out next and so on. Heard a lady crying on the radio yesterday because the difference in her check will mean the difference in her ends meeting.

I can't believe 'we' voted for more?!!?

I think Rush Limbaugh has single-handedly created a whole new industry....conservative talk radio. I not only listen to Rush, but to Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, and some local talk radio as well. I also listen to MSNBC and some other liberal talk shows as well. I feel it is a great way to stay informed, and know what the issues are, and how both sides cover issues.....or not.

I am sure some people look down their noses at people who listen to Rush, and conservative talk radio. That's okay! It's "still" a free country brother! But, Rush, and people like him have been VERY successful in bringing a point of view, and helping to educate people and get them to think.

The term that seems to been brought to attention on this recent string of posts is the phrase "low information voter". Rush does use that term to describe people who may not be well informed on the issues. Some late night talk shows, and other shows go out and interview the "man in the street", and it is amazing how little some of these people know about who our leaders are, or about the major issues facing our country.

But, they will vote one way or the other based on the sheer personality or cult-like power of their favorite politician. Some, not all, generally have no idea about the real issues. So, yes, I think there are a lot of uninformed, or, low information voters, out there that are vote a certain way and may not actually know what the underlying true facts are or what one party or the other may actually stand for.

I would argue that people who listen to conservative talk radio are probably better informed about the issues in general than people who don't. Again, I said "in general". That does not mean everyone.

I heard that one too.Brought a tear to my eye.Was it the lady that had tripletts and will be with OUT a extra 600.00 a month.Which she stated,"My kids will go with out less now, quit taxing us we are already hurting enough"!

Many points Limbaugh have said have been true.(Most)For example,he made a statement about Obama all he wanted was to admit that raising taxes is the problem.Get the republicans to admit and act. After the fiscal cliff crappy deal,he then had a press conference and made the same exact statement.Republicans believe in raising taxes.Limbaugh was right on.I see the House and Tea party now getting nasty,I mean nasty on the debt ceiling and Obama even wanting to go after more tax hikes as he sad the other day.

Yea the bi weekly people are next and will see a huge difference.I was with my sister and brother n law the last few days and asked if they saw a difference in there check.YEP! 600.00 a pieace difference, total of 1,200.00 between the 2 of them.

I am also sick of Obama himself using stupid words of"balanced approach"! What is so balanced about tax hikes, and trillion dollar deficits??There is not!

Reality check - 600 per month is 7200 per year - if that was 2 percent of your income then you are making 360000 a piece give or take... Except that ssi only applies to the first 115 or so --- some people make the case talk radio listeners are false information voters.   No matter how hard Obama tried to reinstate the 2 percent holiday that he previously gave us he couldn't keep it in the deal... Takes a lot of balls to blame that "increase" on him whether you think it's a good idea or not.   Either way max it costs anyone is around 200 a month and yes my name is anyone.

After 1 year $8,760,000.00 (8.76 million dollars)

It would take 400,000 years to earn 3.5 trillion dollars, making 1 thousand dollars an hour. I know it isn't 3.7 trillion, but I figured after 400,000 years, you could use a break. Make it just 30 minutes though, because you still have 196 billion dollars to earn. Don't worry, after your break you only have a little over 20,000 years to go, and you will have earned enough to pay for our budget for just the year 2011.

I saw it. Man, he has taken on a real cocky, arrogant attitude since the relection. Also, isn't it funny he voted against raising the debt ceiling when he was a Senator, and it was unpatriotic to raise the debt ceiling. Now, we HAVE to raise the debt ceiling. It would be unpatriotic not to. HUH??? I really liked it when he said the U.S. wasn't a "dead beat" nation.

Oh well, don't get me going. That guy gets my blood pressure up. But, thank god there is Obamacare to pay for treatment.

No one has said anything about the "trillion dollar coin". Just the fact that they thought of it acknowledges that the Obama administrations thinks of a trillion dollars (of our money) as pocket change.

The numbers are different in the UK, but at least you have a bomb instead of a cutesy graphic.

Tell us about UKCare. I just heard we have 15,000 new pages of regs for OCare. That won't end well.

Dave, I'm still chewing on the coin thing. I agree with what you said, but there's more to it I think. It goes back to the qualifiers I mentioned. "We're not coming for all of your guns". The operative word is all. Guess we may be able to keep air rifles.

I'm glad they decided not to print the coin because once they printed one, it would have been too easy for them to just keep printing them.

In this morning's paper our mayor has come out to support the anti gun effort and stating that the right to have access to guns has to be balanced by the right of pople to live safely. "Right to have access to guns"?

Right to have access to guns is much different than the right to bear arms. Access to guns might be keeping them at sporting club or armory and needing permission from someone access them.

I think these people are very calculating in their speach and they are going to taking every bit of advantage of Newtown that they can to advance their agenda. I've yet to hear one proposal that would have prevented Newtown or anyone try to make the case that their proposals would.

As Rahm Emanuel (interestingly enough now the mayor of Chicago) said when he was Obama's Chief of Staff......"Never let a crisis go to waste". That is exactly what the left is doing now. They are taking full advantage of trying to achieve their gun restriction/ban agenda with the Sandy Hook massacre.

I know it's been discussed here, but, all one has to do is look at Chicago's murder rate. 506 gun murders in 2012. And Chicago has the strictest gun restriction laws in the nation. Only criminals will have guns when they ban law abiding gun owners from access to their guns.

Greg now that’s a hard question....I have only known a national health service all my life from birth......so I have no other type of health care to gauge against.....I been lucky so far with no big problems so I have not used it much........ I think the main difference to you guys is speed of treatment, my girlfriend fell off a 4ft wall in my garden and twisted her knee and tore her calf muscle, did not go to A&E but went to her doctor a few day later......told to rest it, then after 8 weeks sent to a physiotherapist that then referred her to have a MRI scan and now has an appointment to see the knee specialist on the 28th March 2013 she fell on the 20th August 2012........just to see if she needs an operation.
Allot depends on which heath area you live in, as to the speed/type of care you have on all conditions.
There are many thing wrong with our current system as it is simply overloaded, I have no doubt that we will move to a part payment of some treatments.

Some of the things that are sinking our system....even with a total 69.5% tax take from income/spend.
Free health care for all that come and live here with no payment into the system.
Free meds as most choose not to pay the small charge..... that are then sent back to other countries to be sold.
Numbers of immigrants into the UK and their families with birth rates double ours.

Our health and social Systems just don’t work in the new world........along with our previous Gov social engineering that will mean we will be outnumbered by the late 2030’s like the US and we know who they will vote for.......the one that gives the most.

What will they call it if you ever have to pay as much out of pocket as when it was private, but still have to pay your taxes for the government social program?
