I have a '88 2001 that has been in dry storage for years. Just bought a new house and trying to figure out the best and easiest way to store it in my 20' garage. Anyone have any good solutions to retrofit a fixed platform to detachable using the same holes in the gel coat? The local dealer is saying I have to re-glass and drill new holes for the new brackets, which just doesn't seem right to me. Seems like someone should have detachable brackets that can use the original mounting holes in the transom.

Also, does anyone know how long the brackets extend beyond the boat? In other words, if I ended up simply removing the platform and left the brackets, how much length would that add to the boat?

On our BFN, we save about 6" by taking the platform off (and leaving the non-removable brackets on). Going to the removable brackets would save another foot or so, which is significant.

If youre looking at the removable brackets from Alloy Marine (used by CC from '90-09 or so), you should have the option to drill them however you see fit. The ones I put on my (former) Ski Tique came to me blank- drilling the holes in the bracket (boat side) was up to me.

Townsend at white lake made a set for my dads 75 that used the existing holes...go to nautiqueparts.com and give him a call

I pushed out the back of the garage. Problem solved - plus extra storage in the off season.

I had Alloy Marine use my existing bracket hole pattern I sent to them and duplicated them so they just bolted right up.. No plugging and redrilling.. See Keith on the site for details...

Getting a little late on this one. The Dealer doesn't know what he is talking about. I have a set of removable platform brackets on my 88' and they work great. The mount brackets on the hull will line up with the exsiting holes but the platform brackets did not. Not an issue there as your drilling into teak wood anyway.

It was a great addition to the boat!

Good one Pete - I actually got a building permit for the modification! Put in a O/H door at the back. It has some side benefits, such as drive thru access to the backyard. I have a covering to close it off (with boat there).

The whole project cost me about $500 with door et al.
