   I started skiing behind Nautiques about 5 years ago.  I had so many friends that had them that I didn't need to buy my own.  I just bought large gas cans and kept them filled at all times.

Mow that I have moved away and my kids are getting old enough to start enjoying water activities, I find tha I am looking to own my own boat.

I have found a 93 ski nautique open bow.  It is rough looking shape and was used at a boyscout camp this past summer.  It has a couple of bad gouges in the Fiberglas and some small rips in the interior.  It's at a mastercraft dealership and the owner of the dealership is a friend of my dad's.  They say they can make it look almost new (they won't repair the fiberglass or the rips)and they want $14000.

Is this a good price.  They say that this is in line with the NADA, but when I go to the NADA website it gives $11840 to $14400 as the range.

What are your opinions?

	a rough 93 - thats pretty steep - i think for a 93 $14,000 should get you one thats clean.

	Concur w/ 77stang that sounds kinda pricey for a rough 93. What engine does it have? hours? and are they throwing in any extras? Tower? sounds? a bag of $$ under the drivers seat?

	I agree. I've been keeping my eye on 93/94 open bows lately and would say you should be able to do much better at that price.

	I wouldnt buy a used boat from a boat dealer.Last year i looked at a 96 snob,bad interior,very low hours,for 12,000

	Thanks for the info. I've been looking around real hard. They say they won't come down below 14, but I'm thinking about waiting another week or two and if doesn't sell offering them 13,000. It has around 540 hours on it. the engine "looks" pristint. I'm not sure if it's EFI. (How can I tell and is it something I can upgrade to) There is no tower and I'm not sure if it even has a bimini top. It does have a nice cover and a Nautique single axele trailer with surge brakes and break away tongue. They say they will have it all buffed out and looking like brand new. I REALLY want a boat soon I've been waitging for a boat for about 4 years. Fortunately as mentioned above I've always had friends with them, but here in Memphis, I don't know one. 	Ya it looks good... Read this board for a few hours/days and you'll get a feel for what to look for. Most expensive is the engine/transmission. Oil pressure, vacuum pressure etc are key. Transmission oil color, operation etc. You'll never have as much "leaverage" over the current Owner as you do right now. Use this to your advantage to have everything checked...pull a 250 LB skier and make sure she Yanks the guy. Good Deals are a dime a dozen. Offer Low and if you lose it...just wait a few weeks...another good deal will come along.

	Well, You are reading a post from one of the newest members of the Correct Craft club. I held my ground. I took the boat out for a ride and picked the boat to death to the owners son. Told him that the boat drove great, but since I was a first time boat buyer, I didn't want to get stuck with something hidden that I didn't know to look for. (I do all work on my M3 which I put on the track) I told them that mechanically, I loved driving it, but my wife was caught up on the cosmetics and that she wouldn't mind me buying an orphan, but that the price had to be an orphan price and not a boathouse queen. I thanked them for their time, appologized if they thought I had wasted theirs, and walked away. 3 Days later (yesterday) I was on the golf course playing in a company tournament and the sales guy, and the sales manager both left voicemails with much lower pricing and fixing all that I had pointed out. (except the engine cover support which I'm sure I can fix). By the end of the day I had purchased a Ski Nautique Open Bow for $2300 less than they were asking. Whether it actually was a great deal or not, I feel like I got a bargain (which is what really counts doesn't it) comparing the boat to others on this page as well as comparisons with the lesser 2 of the top 3 ski boat brands advertised on boattraderonline.com. Thanks again for all your advice and I look forward to getting to know more of you on the boards while I learn about being a boat owner. Joe
