Larry:
I'm impressed you are still subjecting yourself to the agony of missed "grave jumps", or "bomb outs" as you call them....but the one you hit looked pretty sweet!! I just returned from a weekend in Tennessee where my brother and I just happened to be talking about you and the need for the three of us to do a run or two together. We used to do double and even triple bomb outs but I don't think I'm up to that!!
Weather in Tenn. was great this weekend....got in the last runs and skis for the year with my son Brett who came over from Charlotte. His [and your] season still has a way to go....I know he never pulls his boat until Christmas as he likes to get in some last minute footin' prior to the Lake Norman New Years Day tournament. That may be one you want to do.
Again, thanks for the entertainment....nice video!

"Its only Teenage wasteland"...favorite smokin' song .

Love the video..you are da man..just love the grave-jumps. Not to much better than flying down the lake with Bill yelling "1..2..and then jumping. Those days are past I think.

Your ears musta been burning Saturday evening as we were on Bill's deck drinking a little Captain and talking about you. Gonna be a high time to meet in person. Hopefully you can hook up with my nephew Brett sometime..you won't be sorry.

yeah...a visit to Norris is in your future. We'll take you to World Famous Barefoot Cove.

Looks good and I like how you maximized the difficulty level using the low pole and the poly e, (and I know goggles would have helped).

Thanks, but actually the choice is based on my wife really preferring I'd grow up (i.e. no longer be a teenage wasteland) and stop this foolishness before I fall and bust my aging coccyx.

Definitely on my to-do list John. Looking forward to a three-way with you and Bill

Actually, that is a "barefoot" rope, albiet a vintage one. I got it in the mid 80s and it is constructed with a regular poly rope but also a kevlar rope within the poly rope weave. It is actually quite sturdy...and a bit legendary among the New England guys, since it is as old as most of them.

I do have a better (more contemporary) barefoot rope, but I left it in Tim Morfoot's boat last weekend so now it is in Georgia.

hahaa... nice one.

Does it typically sound like...
Wife: "honey, are you sure this is a good idea?"
Man: "Well I'm pretty sure it isn't, but the kids are watching and what kind of a lesson would I be teaching if I backed out now..."

and last week:
Wife: "the gauge thingy says the water is 59F"

However, said intruder did inspire me to re-watch the video, re-read the thread and be impressed all over again. If over the next few years, I am doing one tenth of what Larry is doing now, I will be satisfied.

Haha true. I watched the video again. You can hear the 4bbl open up on the boat in one part.

Yeah, sometimes it seems a shame to drown out the good stuff with music.

Watched the video a couple of times, awesome. What's the speed of the boat to barefoot? I am 6'3 230 lbs. I would say I am a good shape and a good salom skier (used to do comps). Never tried barefooting but after watching your video, I want to try. Not sure if my 93 is fast enough. I would guess 42 mph ????

No boom, but I'm looking to buy one. My kids are having a hard time learning to ski, I've tried every technique that I thought would work. I think a boom would help out.

'Runt' is my wife's idea of a sick nickname for me. *LOL* So low and behold SkiRunt was born. I must say I was surprised it wasn't taken.

David, how old are your kids? I was able to get my 8 and 9 year old boys up on kids combo trainers from deep line by coaching them in the water, but I don't think I will get far on a slalom ski that way (I am looking for a boom too). I am planning to try to learn to barefoot this summer. Lexington is not so far down the road...

David,

I did not even catch that you were in Lexington. Maybe you, Wayne and I can get together early in the season and see if we can get you going. You are a pretty big guy and might torque the boom and my little bitty boat a bit, but I'd be willing to give it a shot.
