I love low slung boats, but am not overly fond of outboards. One of my all time favorites were the old pre-Malibu Flitecrafts. |

I've never seen anyone that looks like they're having fun while in that line-step position.....

Those BI shoe skis do turn easy, they are super slippery, they are designed to use at 15 to 25 mph, Willie skis them at 30 to 32, IMO waayyy too fast. The idea with the shoe skis is to lower your speed which increases drag which "simulates" turning on your feet. going fast there is no drag. Of course Willie is not trying to learn to turn so it is what it is. The BFC shoe skis are the most difficult(most like barefeet) If you are having trouble getting any consistancy turning on BFC's I have some suggestions. And I just got the WBC shoe skis so I'll be testing them out soon.
The line step position is more fun than it looks, doing the one foots is a challenge until you lift your arm up high then they're easy, strange how that works. |

For us older footers Willie is a great mentor! Funny how barefooting techniques has changed over the years. In the 1990s I was taught to execute the front to back turn at the top of the up wake. Last summer I was told to execute the turn by squatting way down …turn and pull the handle to the small of your back while looking on the horizon. Looks like Willie has the same technique. I love this sport…It is so technical and challenging. Thanks Andy for posting the videos.

Several posts ago, Roy talked about Willie's dummy observer and I mentioned our "Rog" from high School days, that was our observer.
I managed to round up a picture of Rog from my high school year book swim team picture. (yes jbear, it was from Rog I got the idea to wear goggles when I foot) |

big drawback for me today! sea took my gopro RIP, i was playing around with the kids in the waves, i had the head strap mount, got caught by a wave, and there it fell from my head right in front of me, 1 foot water, sea washed away and was not able to recover it....
it went away with a 16gb sd card with lots of vacation pictures |

There are story's of many people finding them and returning them to GoPro who gets them back to the owner. That's why I use the orange float when skiing. Hope it turns up. Maybe go back with a diving mask?

I am seriously dissappointed
I have no idea what it's like to foot in Uruguay, that would have been cool to see. The loss of your vacation photos is even more tragic for you though. I have a giant float attached to my headstrap mount kind of like how I float my goggles. yes it looks ridiculous. thats how I roll. Everybody keeps telling me the suction cup mount is going to fall off but so far it works great. no saftey cords attached. |

My 8 year old has been getting the winter blues about not being able to continue in her quest to learn how to foot so I gave her the Lane Bowers DVD to give her some things to think about.
I left her alone, but checked on her an hour or so later and she had taken some notes. Seems that she had a pretty good feel for what was important. It also seems that Lane's marketing really does work as I had to explain why we the SuperFlyHigh wasn't really a necessity, but oh did he have her convinced that it was a must have. Her notes: |

Nice - I gave my DVD to a friends boys (Ethan / Hudson Fox - 6 years old) and they to have been having a good time with it and driving their mother (former Sea World Snivel Skier) crazy. While the boys are only 6 they are already skiing faster then their mother!

That's great Steve. She's clearly been bit by the barefoot bug early. Only one thing to do about that. Encourage/support it!!

found my sweet spot on the side slide, the key, speed. 43+ mph.
With the boom at shoulder height and in that speed, I slided sweet... only problem is wot for the nautique... Looks like I need a new 55+ boat! wondering if a prop change could give me a couple of extra mph, I´m no longer wakeboarding with heavy ballast to I don´t worry about loosing some hole shot.... with no footer on tow I´m getting 47mp @4800-4900 rpm with the 1442 acme 3 blade prop.. |
