Kind of looks like a frumpy Malibu Tantrum. There was one for sale on Rt 109 in NH either last year or the year before. They also made this one. |

I used to like reading about all the little start up ski boat companies in WaterSki Magazine. Most of them didn't last too long, but I liked the idea of new brands and enjoyed checking them out, especially the inexpensive ones. I think Moomba is the only one that is still around of all the low price boats.

That was the standard configuration for the Dominique, which shared the same hull as the BFN. While it wouldnt surprise me to hear that a BFN existed with that set up, the boat has a few other things that point to it being a Dominique from the factory. The ghosting of the "Correct Craft" decals on the transom (as opposed to "Competition Barefoot Nautique"), as well as the mis-placed side graphics indicate that the graphics on the boat now arent original. The 351w was available on both boats, but more commonly found on the Dom... so thats another hint. |

huh, a 2004 for $15,900, pretty damn good price? correct?
I'm just starting to get old i guess, when i think of a 2004, i feel like it's a brand new boat, that was my water ski team boat, loved the way they handled and skied, i can't imagine how a good 2013 196 performs, oops i mean a 200 cb. |

Yes, this is a V-drive. 91-94 BFN/Excel's were v-drive boats. The Supersport started in '95. |

I've never really understood that, i assume they designed the haul in such a way that the V drive actually help smooth the wake at higher speeds? |

No I never did. Big issue is time and the other is space. Also i want to give other a fair shot at maybe bying it to keep it alive. I'd probably part it out for a small profit and then but it up in 15 pieces and take it my companies dumpster. Speaking of that, i wonder if any has ever thought about flipping one of these over and making it the roof to a backyard shed, would be funny. |

Cool, I do know this boat was for sale and has been forsale at random over the past 5 years, so i assume it's been sitting out that long and what looks like catails growing out of the bottom of it. SO I'd expect it's not going anywhere neat the water until a stringer rebuild is completed. It's definitely a cool project though, if you plan on buying it, feel free to stop by my house, i have a ton of odd parts. Like storage panels and rubrail. I'll give ya the panels the rub rail i'd have to sell ya, because i could get scrap for it. |

I don't think wake shape was so much a consideration. The semi-v, straked hull was already proven by the original BFNs. John Gillette, champion barefooter of the 80s worked at CC at the time. He told me how, in a design meeting, he threw out the idea of a v-drive barefoot boat, for two benefits, interior space and greater speed. So those were the two drivers. As I said above, I think they arrived at a good wake/table design before and the v-drive hull pretty well mimmicked that. He said the first reaction wasn't positive as it represented design/manufacturing hurdles, but they went with it. The v-drive barefoot boat didnt last long, but obviously v-drive sport boats were here to stay. |
