i have a 1994 ski nautique 351 velvet 1.1 drive. idle won't stay the same and when put in forward gear rpms drop 800. when put in reverse there is no drop in rpms. lowest idle i can get with it in forward is 1000 rpm. but after running. rpms change.

Ken,
If I understand correctly, you get a 800 RPM drop in forward to 1000 RPM but no drop in reverse? What's the RPM in neutral? How's the throttle and shift cable adjustment? Any vacuum leaks on the intake side of the engine? |

Ken,
Have you tried removing the throttle cable from the carb to make sure it's not holding it open slightly? You can also see if the carb is being held open. |
