Windshield questions

I removed the windshield from my 89 SN today was thinking about getting it refinished, but I not sure if it's painted or anodized. It came apart pretty easily and now would be a good time to get it done.

Has anyone ever refinished theirs?

Did you get it painted or anodized?

Was thinking about getting it power coated black, but I'm not sure if the layer of power coat may be too thick to put it back together, has anyone done this yet?

Well after visiting the powder coating company it was determined that it wasn't the right way to go, it would be a lot of work for the powder coat person to not coat the pieces that go together.

The frame had holes drilled in it for the Bimini top to mount to, I ended up having those Tig welded shut and I grinded the welds down and sand them smooth, it worked really well.

I went and checked on getting it anodized and that was possible, but I would have to strip all the paint off the frame, they didn't do that part, so as it turns out, I think I'm just going to end up painting the frame myself.

I started on removing the old paint by using a paint stripper and that didn't do the job, so I'm going to have to sand it off and that's going to take hours, I got 3 pieces done so far and 7 more to go, I'm not sure how others removed the old paint, I would think sand blasting would be too harsh on the metal.

Couple of questions,

1. What would be the best way to remove the old paint?

2. What type of paint would be best to use on the frame after I'm done sanding?

check this windshield threadI started. I had the frame powder coated and the guy "blew out" the powder from inside the frame before he baked it. no issue on re-assembly.
