So I am hard at work making a movie from last weekend's skiing and I noticed that my fly high pole twists considerably with a slalom skier.
What do you guys think? Cables too loose? It is what it is? Fly HIgh Twisting |

I sure would think so. How easy is it to clip the turnbuckle to the strap? It should be moderately challenging. The forwards load from the turnbuckle being tightened should not allow movement like that. |

Mine does that too. The cable is too high up to prevent it from twisting when line is attached at the normal pylon height, plus the face mounted ring gives the line leverage to twist it. I wouldn't worry about it. Where are you in that video? On the Delaware south of Trenton? It looks too narrow.

@TRBenj, I can't imagine how I would get the bow strap connected if it was any tighter.

I have mine preloaded pretty tight, usually requires someone to push forward on it while standing on the motor box to get the strap through the clip ring. It ain't moving at all after I close the turn buckle.

The trick is to get it tight enough that you can just barely clip it yourself. And I mean just barely. If it doesn't fight you it's too easy- and too loose, IMHO. I can't imagine any of mine twisting like that- ill have to check. Admittedly, we take it down for serious slalom.

Run a loop of rope around the pylon and and clip a caribeener on it to hook the slalom rope to. That will take away the leverage the rope has from that eye sticking out.

Update: I was able to significantly tighten the cables by moving the pin to the clip back 1 hole. Much more stable setup now, although no heavy weights rode yesterday to test the slalom tow point. I think the bow strap may have stretched some since we started using it at the beginning of the year.
