Hi all,

Does the tach signal on a GT40 come from the coil? Gray wire? Have an intermittent 'spikey' tach and would like to get to the bottom of it. More irritating than anything else.

Cheers,

D.

The "tach" signal comes from the grey wire on the coil it has a 22K ohm resistor in series that makes the signal compatible with most tach's.

I would check and clean all connections. Try and confirm that it is not the tach by trying a shop tach or similar.

It could also be noise coming from the TFI ignition module.

Is yours the original tach or the Faria replacement. Have heard of a few problems with the Faria replacements jumping around and reading low.

It def jumps around at times. Maybe reads a little high according to my idle.
