Well I would have run it through my El34's but I had to return a long overdue borrowed DAC (Thanks again Dog)so my home gear is in disarray right now. I'm gonna take a trip and see what I can borrow for the weekend when you guys come down in a few.

By the way, we traded texts with Stang Sunday, they may join us for the fall bash at lake Clinton so I need to post that up and set a date.

Listened at work through Fiio E9 and E7 combo with HD 650's (all I can afford with two boats, but plan to build a couple of valve amps one day...)

Awesome Alan! So happy for you both. Now you just need to update your profile pic! I love that 81 but you don't even have it any more, and lets face it, its not like you don't have any other good looking boats to showcase...haha

looks like 14-15, that's ok if it's your anniversary you can bring Kim along too.

If I want to get a hold of Gary we use Dana's phone, he's too much of a gentleman not to respond to her.

Pete I tightened the pack a couple of notches but I need to cut the floor a little so the shift lever can go forward about another inch.   It takes a lot pressure to knuckle it in though and I think I am going to have strengthen the mount for he shifter.

i haven't chimed into this thread but you can bet i've read every post. i have a new boat by most's standards on this forum, it even has a rollcage, but i can sure appreciate this '55. i grew up working with wood with my father, but this is just on a whole other level. alan, this is the most beautiful craft i've ever seen. i hope to make it to green lake someday, and see it in person, i know the pictures do it no justice at all.

Alan,
Back off the adjustment 1 notch. 2 notches are probably too much.

Alan: great to see that beauty on the water! And that smile on your face after that long journey to get there! I surely hope to fly across the Pond soon and get a ride in this truly amazing beauty (I rember how much I enjoyed the ride in Billy's Dart!!)... We all should send a mail to Bill Yeargin to get him to put up a poster of the "Soul Mate" in their Hall Of Fame!

Larry: a truly great recapitulation video. I already watched it three times

Joel: ROFL!!!!!!

Billy: watch out for your heart, my friend! We need a sarcasm emoticon on this site...

I went back and read the original thread. In retrospect, I wonder what Alan thinks of this comment.

I sure am missing the Sunday evening updates Alan, are you sure one boat is a fitting enough tribute to your solemate?? Maybe a small fleet is in order.
For thousands of years men have felt the irresistible urge to go to sea, and many of them died. Things got better after they invented boats.

Well I guess it's time for a weather report.

Got out yesterday for a good long run around Lake Clinton, absolutely perfect day to be running around in an old wood CorrectCraft.

Since Green Lake we've gotten the cooling problem resolved, also got the starting problem worked out and it fires right up now. We're starting to trust her now as she gets more dependable with each tweak.

Still on the list for winter modifications is to correct the shift linkage, I'm still not able to put enough pressure to engage the clutch completely. I need to bolster all the shift mechanism with some support points, what's happening is when I get to the point of engaging the clutch the shift linkage is flexing and not allowing it to knuckle in. So I'm still riding around with my left foot on the shift lever for now. The real problem with that is I can't give it any real power, yesterday was all spent below 2300 rpm or it would slip. Nice cruising speed but hard on a heavy throttle guy like me.

Anyway, here are a bunch of photos and a little video clip thanks to Renee Weitekamp. The 2 fly by passes are at 2300 rpm and we're moving pretty good, I can't wait to put the coals to her and see what she can do but that might have to wait until spring.

Video

Video
You can hear the trans slip on the take off, we'll get her running real nice for next year though but I'll tell you it's a real hoot to run her around. Like stepping back in time and the ride is amazingly soft, haven't encountered any real big water yet but she rides over everything we've seen so far soft as butter.
