Need to switch out a steering cable on a 2008 206. Never have had one of them apart.
What is under the back seat? I assume the fuel tank. How hard is it to get to the tiller area with one of these boats with a trunk?? Thanks Tim |

Youre thinking along the right lines. Easiest way to access the rudder port is through the trunk. Not hard to pull up the floor in there. Fuel tank is under the back seat, you dont gain much unless you pull both.

I'd love to see pictures of the process in the newer boats with the trunk. I changed ours in the 2001 and it was a challenge getting to the rudder port. We ended up leaving the tank in place but lifted the front end to get enough access.

Mars, I just laid on my belly with a ratchet wrench and a box end wrench and dad's 98 was cake. Did they extend the tank under the rear seat on the 01?

Depends.
If you have the hidden storage the seat bottom is your tank. |

The trunked boats are really easy. Open trunk, remove floor... Im not even sure it requires tools to pull that floor out. The rudder port is staring you in the face once its out of the way.

The 01 has that storage but we've opened it maybe once or twice, nice bumper storage.
09. Pulled this pic from N3's used inventory. |

The 98-02 Sports without the ballast tanks make it super easy to get to the rudder like Tim said with the false floor and then centre floor piece lifted out the rudder port is looking right at you. The locker is big enough to fit me in, and at 6'2" not the world's smallest human. Chris you would even be able to curl up in there. The tank is under the seat in the later Sport/Air, I thought the SN's tank were under the seat also |
