Time to find another lake. Turns out there's more than one. Keep it up! That way the next reunion you hit you can jump in a 3, 4, or 5 man line. That's my goal anyway.

honestly I haven't even looked at the boat since Benjamin's...I'm planning on taking it to Reid next weekend to babysit for the winter and I'm hoping he might find an excuse to tinker with it before March.

Thanks for the invite but this weekend is no good. All my weekends are booked until thanksgiving, actually.

It's funny you said that Adam. I was just about to type that Owasco is probably getting a little chilly, maybe you should come down here instead....then figured you would probably think that's kind of a long drive for a couple barefoot runs. Now here it ends up you are going to be just a couple hours up the road.

(on the other hand, I think there are some people around here that don't think twice about driving 8 hours for a boat ride or a couple barefoot runs)

(Water lays down pretty good here in the fall)

You know what Larry, that might be just what the doctor ordered. You gonna be around next weekend? (19th & 20th) Cause Reid got after it at Benjamin's place a few weeks ago, I might be able to talk him into taking a ride out to your place for some more water time.

I'll be around. I can't break for a whole day, as we have some fairly significant home projects underway that I have to keep after, but I can certainly break away for a while and you and Reid can use the boat all day if you want. (How good are you with a paint brush?)

Terrible. But I'll gladly trade a few hours of poor quality painting to get dragged around a flat lake like that.

Can't guarantee water like that all day every day (in fact the next day it was kind of a mess (wind-wise...traffic is pretty much gone, now) but we can play it by ear. Be fun to have you guys stop by. (Plus I'd like to be a part of Reid's "triumphant" return to the sport)

That is some good water! Is that whole lake sea walls, or is the water just high. If sea walls, I bet the lake gets brutal after a couple of passes...

Pretty much all sea-walled. It is a small lake, (though mostly wider than you see here) so when you follow the rules (counter clockwise pattern) it gets tore up pretty quickly. Off hours and off season, you can run up and down the middle and it stays ok for a while, but the time comes when you have to take a short break and let it settle down. (All that assuming you are the only one out there, which isn't THAT hard to accomplish)

I think I got Reid talked into it. Get your instructor hat ready Larry, cause he may not need a lot of it, but I sure do. Go back to page 98 of this thread and you'll see what I mean.

Got back out this weekend... Driver and skier both progressing! Took 8 attempts of trying to get narrower, feeling really close- then knocked this out on my 9th.

Tim, that looked pretty darn sweet! Nice job. Looks easy when you do it right. You fell into the trap of LLBD newbies: You got stood up, and caught a heel. The boat was still accelerating. Keep your head down, use that time to clean up your stance (feet closer) eyes up, knees bent, that kind of stuff. Then you get to full speed you can get a bit taller. Willie used to tell me to stay defensive; always have your feet in front of you, handle tight to the butt and you will never go out the back...

Thanks guys!

Roy, I knew I was in a vulnerable position- was just too damn exhausted to fix it! Had plenty of speed. Those small ripples did me in.

The fall looks like a symptom of skiing at 70'. I imagine you did not purposely ski outside the wake. At this point you could probably ride behind the boat comfortably at 80'. This is a problem I think Steve will have. It's just too narrow at [higher] skiing speeds. Of course this is assuming you wanted to be behind the boat. It's barely wide enough for small guys.

Anyway, awesome job. Must be a huge relief to finally do it again after 7 weeks!

Congrats Tim. After you made several short line starts in White Lake several years ago with me driving, I figured you we solid on long line. Very nicely done.

Adam put me on this thread a couple of weeks ago and I have been hooked ever since. You guys and gals are great to share your advice and knowledge with us "want-to-be" footers.

I qualify as an "old school", began in 1968, just like JBear with only cutoff jeans, a ski belt, a d*ck Pope, Jr. kickoff ski,and a pair of tennis shoes behind a 30 hp Johnson on a 14 foot flat bottom plywood boat.

You CCFans have made me want to "relearn" LLB kickoffs and deep water fronts.

Congrats Tim, looked pretty easy that time. How bad was the fall? Any worse than catching a toe skiing frontwards?
