starter clicking when starting,is this the starter going bad or the seliniod,it was giving me problems when i was winterizing the boat on sat,(93 ski nautique,original starter)
what you dont want to hear from jbear and bill.you cant get in the boat till you get your minute,and they throw you back in water!

While it could be the starter or solenoid, start with the easy stuff. Are you sure the battery is good and connections clean and solid? I've seen this many times with battery cables, starter cable, etc. having enough corrosion to let some current through but not enough. It will click a bit then finally kick in and start after a few tries even with a good battery and starter. Remove, clean and re-attach wires and cables and try again.

    A easy check to see if its a battery cable issue is to turn on the stern light while trying to start and see what the light does. If it goes practically out, you have cable/corrosion issues. If it stays bright, you have a solenoid or starter issue if it just "clicks". This is just a simple test, not a complete diagnosis.

hey thanks 63 skier/and jeff kostis boat is all put away for winter but i will check cables,it has a brand new battery,2 months old ,thanks for info,
